List of Global Entry Enrollment Centers

Post your walk-in experiences in the Wiki. If you cannot update the Wiki, then please post in the thread, and someone will paste your data point. Please format it as such under the enrollment center where you attempted to walk-in:

Yes/No [If Yes, put how long you waited in brackets] (Date and time attempted)

If someone in your family had an appointment at that time, please note that, too.

Examples:
Yes [45m] (4/2/2016 10am w/ a family member who had an appointment)
Yes [2h] (4/18/2016 3pm)
No (5/2/2016 12pm w/ a family member who had an appointment)
Yes [25m] (5/10/2016 9am)

-----------------------------------------
Disclaimer: These are only data points. There is no guarantee you will be successful as a walk-in.

I actually don't think it's cancellations for these random, close-in dates; I think it's people who simply walked-in earlier for an appointment. As soon as you get your official approval, your future appointment date becomes available.
So the centers that do walk in interviews are the ones most likely to have so many changes with last minute appointments becoming available?

BTW, does anyone know whether walk in interviews for GE are available at MSP? At the place along Lake Superior at the Canadian border?

I'm not saying it's always the case, but it's plausible. I mean, who would be foolish enough to cancel their appointment a few days away and risk getting a new appointment a few months out? (Or the hassle of constantly searching for something closer.)

It's also a possibility of multiple family members with different days/times simply walking-in with the first family member's appointment.

I'm guessing a lot of it is families being handled together at the first interview they were able to book.

There are also people who need to re-schedule due to business commitments, family issues, personal emergencies, illness, etc. plus travel changes or delays for those who attempt to do their interview in a different city. In fact, I suspect that some people pick the first available appointment at some airport and plan to fly there, but change their minds when they check flight schedules and prices (as well as hotel prices if an overnight stay is required).

IAD Walk-in Info?

Just got my approval and want to go to IAD ahead of a 7/24 flight. First available was 8/11 so I accepted for now. I then checked again and was able to get an appointment on 7/25 so almost there.

In case I can't get any earlier, can anyone comment on the feasibility of walk-in appointments at Washington-Dulles (IAD)? I know a couple of people in the last few weeks said they were going to try, but I have not seen any results. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone tried for a walk-in GE interview at the ATL airport? MSP airport?

Walk-Ins at JFK discouraged

My understanding is that they'll try to fit you in between the actual appointments. If they really are full and everyone shows up that could mean a long wait.
This is what happened to me, but to hear the customs agents there tell it, they only made an exception for me because I lived overseas and had rescheduled three times. They gave me the same story -- just keep looking for cancellations. This advice strikes me as useless -- the chances of scheduling travel around an open Global Entry appointment slot are nil.

They seem to like that it's hard to get an appointment -- there were several people in the waiting room when I arrived, some of whom told me they had driven three hours and were paying long-term parking at JFK to keep their GE appointment. Since the waiting room emptied out while I was waiting, I see no reason why they should not be a bit more flexible about walk-ins.

I was complained to that my walk-in status would make 'extra work' for them, which turns out to having to add my file number to blank spaces at the end of the days activity list, rather than just crossing off one of the pre-registered appointments. Didn't strike me as too much extra work.

It would be really good if this activity could also be done at places like post offices. Nothing was done to me that couldn't have been done at a post office -- there is a fingerprint scanner and a web cam, but that's a minor expense.

Since this was a renewal, I don't see what the theater is all about. They claim that fingerprints can change, but all 10 of them? This program has obvious money-saving implications in that there are fewer CBP agents to hire. I would think that further savings would be encouraged, and the savings should be passed along to taxpayers, rather than treating it as a 'premium service.'

Wife as add-on to appointment at SFO

I did not notice any reference to me current concern. I found an opening in SFO for a mid-July date. This is great because we live 200+ miles away and my wife and I are headed to Europe in late July.

But I could only find one opening and we need two. I took the one. She still has an appointment for the next time we know we are going to be in SF (2 months later). I am hoping that if we both just show-up at the same time, being family will give us a little better chance getting them squeezing us in together. Or at least letting one of us to wait, as a "walk-in".

We will not mind waiting, as a walk-in, which would be a lot better than getting turned away because they have reached their daily walk-in quota. We were going to endeavor to be walk-ins together, in early July, if I had not found one appointment.

Anyone have any insights?

Welcome to FT. Many have reported success bringing a family member to first interview slot. If I were you, keep trying. SFO is open 24/7 now. You are very likely to find something within the next two weeks if not days. Good luck and let us know your result.

Just got out approval letter and schedule the first available interview september 10th at Newark.

The bummer is that this will be after a late august trip and were hoping to have been cleared by then.

We are considering trying to go as a walk in sometime of july 4th weekend (sat/sun/mon) Newark is open 7AM to 9PM.

I'm thinking it would be best to go and be there when the doors open as a walk-in vs going later at night.

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on which time or date would be best to try to go for a walk-in for my wife and myself?

MSy (New Orleans)

New Orleans does accept walk-ins, will generally take families together, and (despite what the website stills says) has expanded their hours to 8:30-6:30 or so Mon - Fri.

We showed up for my 2:30 appt at 12:55. There was no one waiting, they took us at 1:00 and we were out by 1:15.

They just recently expanded those hours from what the web shows and are backfilling new appts. We applied Sat 5/28, got approved 6/17, were able to book my wife for 6/22 at 5:30. My confirmation was a day later. I originally booked for 6/28 and was able to move up to 2:30 on 6/22 the day before the interview.

Very painless. Lots of capacity right now in NOLA

New here and not sure if I am able to edit the pinned post at the top of the thread.

Here is our experience from yesterday at EWR: Wife had an appointment we were lucky enough to snag for her the day after we received conditional approval, mine is in September. Was hoping I could get my interview while we were there for hers, but no dice. Big sign saying "No walk-ins, No exceptions" and this was verbally confirmed by the agents.

EWR - No (6/26/2016 3:20pm)

Welcome to FT. I added EWR for you in wiki.

Keep trying, you will find something close in, very likely in the next two weeks, if not two days. You can do new searches or use a plug in, if you are tech savy. You can try other locations if you are traveling in the next month or so. Good luck and let us know your result.

Keep trying, you will find something close in, very likely in the next two weeks, if not two days. You can do new searches or use a plug in, if you are tech savy. You can try other locations if you are traveling in the next month or so. Good luck and let us know your result.
Thanks! My wife is flying out of PHL next week, so I'm hoping to give walk-in another shot when I drop her off. Anyone know anything about PHL's walk-in policy?

The wiki on this thread says NO for PHL as of midMay.

However, it can't hurt to try if you're at the airport anyway.

Please report back.

Ah! Completely forgot that PHL was in the wiki. I'll give it a shot anyway and will report back.
