List of Global Entry Enrollment Centers

Post your walk-in experiences in the Wiki. If you cannot update the Wiki, then please post in the thread, and someone will paste your data point. Please format it as such under the enrollment center where you attempted to walk-in:

Yes/No [If Yes, put how long you waited in brackets] (Date and time attempted)

If someone in your family had an appointment at that time, please note that, too.

Examples:
Yes [45m] (4/2/2016 10am w/ a family member who had an appointment)
Yes [2h] (4/18/2016 3pm)
No (5/2/2016 12pm w/ a family member who had an appointment)
Yes [25m] (5/10/2016 9am)

-----------------------------------------
Disclaimer: These are only data points. There is no guarantee you will be successful as a walk-in.

Does anyone know if IAD takes walk-ins? Heading there in a few weeks and would like to swing by if they do.

Has anyone ever gotten an interview at AUS ?
Any idea how far out they schedule or when they release new appointments?
All I've been getting is:
Currently there are no available appointments at this enrollment center. Please check later for openings or choose another enrollment center.

I'll probably drive to San Antonio. For some reason they have shorter hours but actually have slots open in the next two months. I guess the powers that be won't hire enough at the high-demand centers?

1. Does anyone know if LAX or Long Beach, CA accept walk-ins?
2. How soon after the interview are we "good to go" or how long does it take to get the I.D. card?

I can't answer (1) but for your second question, you don't need the ID card to use GE. You get a known traveler number (KTN) that you attach to your reservations (and/or your frequent flyer account), and then you're recognized as GE. I know that doesn't answer your question, but I figured it may negate the need for your question. I don't remember how long it took to get my card, but I know I threw it in my suitcase and have never taken it out.

You might need the ID card in rare situations, but they're so rare most people don't run into them. For instance, if all the kiosks are down for some reason, the card may speed you through even if you have to now deal with humans.

Your boarding pass, for example, doesn't show your GE status. Just because you're PreCheck doesn't guarantee you're GE (now that PreCheck is sold separately). Perhaps by scanning your boarding pass someone at CBP could figure it out, I dunno, but chances are if the kiosks are down they're able to check GE/NEXUS/etc cards visually to direct you into a special line but not able to scan your boarding pass to do so.

However, like I said, the cases where you might need that are very rare, so most people don't run into them, and even fewer people would run into it on their first attempt to use GE.

Answering a few of the recent questions as the SO and I recently went through this process.

1) Supposedly Yes LAX does do walk in's though they do not advertise it and they do not guarantee it (she saw one ask and wait).
2) AUS books about 3 months in advance (I was there for 6 days for work and kept checking) when they are available.
3) PHX does take walk ins, though they do not guarantee it either. I saw a couple waiting for over an hour and the officer just kept telling them if there was room they would take them.
4) I do not know about San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, or LGB
5) It took about a week for the card to come for both the SO and I.

She got lucky and got an appointment at LAX 3 days after she was conditionally approved. I saw a number of appointments pop up at LAX through most of April but they all conflicted with my current travel plans for work so I was unable to take any of them. Unfortunately I had to fly to PHX and take care of mine, but it was a breeze and now it's done before our trip to Europe later this month.

Moral of the story is to be diligent with checking for cancellations as they pop up all the time.

I just went in 2 weeks ago for my interview at LAX. While I was standing in the waiting for interview line, 2 walked up and were told no walk-ups are accepted, go online for an appointment. That said, if you keep checking a spot will open up. I was able to get one within 2 weeks of conditional approval, people cancel all the time. They had while I was there 3 CDP Officers and 3 interviewees at a time. The appointments are in 15 minute intervals, but they were running about 10 minutes behind and that was at 9 am, and I am sure by noon they are even farther behind, which is why they probably do not take walk-ins.
I received my approval before I was to my car in the parking lot, and my GOES ID showed up in less than a week. You do not need the GOES Card to use a kiosk, it is tied to your Passport.

Wait time: too late

Here is my experience with walk ins at SFO. I went mid-day a few days ago and saw this sign posted on the door. They only take six walk ins, taken at 8am when they open. So I returned today and thought it would be less crowded on a Tuesday. Left home at 6am to get there "early" at 7am and found that there were about a dozen people already waiting in line. The first six all got there before 6am, the ones after were hoping that they would be still squeezed in. I didn't stay, because I had to be back for a noon meeting, and I believe them when they say they only take six people. I've only got one entry into the US before November when the next appointments are, so I figured the time I'd wait in immigration is less than the time I'd wait at SFO GE.

Did you try calling them? I had the same question and called the SFO office directly. (The answer was no.)

By the way, appointments open up when people cancel. My original appointment was months away, but within a few hours an appointment opened for the next day. Keep checking.

There's a thread in the Travel Safety and Security forum, subforum on Trusted Traveler Programs, that discusses which GE processing offices allow walk in interviews.

I'm considering taking my 13 year old son with me to my appointment next week and hoping that they'll process him along with me, even though I can't get another appointment for him at that time.

Does anyone have experience with doing this - taking along a kid to the parent's appointment at LAX and having them process the child as a walk-in, since he's with the parent?

Thank you for any thoughts!!
any update on this? I am in a similar situation and would need to take my 11 year old with me.

Forgot to mention, it seems SJU they are quite flexible on walk ins or turning up early for your appointment.

PHL doesn't accept walk ins

I just tried to walk-in at PHL. Got a firm "no" from them when I showed up.

It's that famous Philadelphia hospitality.
