This vintage shows his enthusiasm and passion as the wine bursts with piercing apricot and lychee fruit shot through with the tingly acidity of gooseberry and lime zest. 2012 Louis Jadot Domaine Gagey Bressandes 1er Cru, Beaune, Burgundy, France Beaune is above all a great red wine vineyard right at the heart of Burgundy, but there are a couple of patches of Premier Cru, tucked high up on the slopes above the town, that produce inspiring whites, and this tiny parcel of Bressandes vines, less than a hectare in size, gives wines of fantastic personality. 2012 is a vintage for dry, classic flavours, ripeness matched by mouthwatering acidity, and Bressandes has a savoury depth of roasted cashew nuts and oatmeal, smoothed by cream. With vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and the Aube, Champagne Taittinger continues to embody the precise balance of power and drive softened with elegance and finesse. Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger this esteemed Champagne house has always been highly regarded for the elegance, consistency and finesse it achieves across the range of cuvees it produces. With vineyards across many of the premium areas of Champagne this house has the ability to source the perfect grapes for the perfect cuvee. Maurice, the son of Pol had a particular love for the richness of the Pinot Noir grape, this was a passion he shared with Sir Winston Churchill a well-known devotee of the house. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame The innovative and visionary talent of Mme Clicquot herself has made this Champagne label one of the most recognised and successful of the region. Her determination to share her wine with new markets enabled her to first ship the 1811 vintage to the Imperial court in St Petersburg. A little over 200 years later the house of Veuve Clicquot has many strong relationships with growers and vineyard owners all over Champagne. Champagne Taittinger Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006, Champagne, France The prestigae cuvee of Taittinger, Comtes de Champagne first appeared in 1952. A Blanc de Blanc, the Chardonnay grapes are sourced from prized vineyards including Grand Cru sites in Avize and Cramant. The 2006 is a powerful, refined and expressive Champagne, this vintage is showing citrus fruit aromas, lime blossom and notes of caramelised grapefruit. It has great length and complexity and is a perfect wine to begin a fine meal, yet could be enjoyed throughout. White Evans & Tate Frankland River Riesling 2013, Frankland River, West Australia In 1974, John Evans and John Tate found an appealing land plot for growing vines and embarked on the journey of crafting wines of exceptional quality. A multi award winner at the Qantas Wine Show, this Riesling is one of the examples of why. The aromatics are driven be delicate florals and supported with lime citrus notes, an elegant palate with the necessary acid to finish clean and fresh. Coldstream Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Yarra Valley, Victoria Established in 1985 Wine industry icon James Halliday. The first Sauvignon Blanc was produced in 1997. Bright and lifted characters of tropical fruits, passionfruit and gooseberry are complemented beautifully with a balanced palate and cleansing, long limey finish. Oakridge 864 Funder and Diamond Chardonnay 2013, Yarra Valley, Victoria Crafted using traditional methods and local knowledge built over 30 vintages, this wine is impressive and highly intriguing. The nose has a "wow" factor of gun smoke, flint and grilled nuts with underlying ripe peach and mandarin. The palate is a paradox of vibrant weight and layers of flavour and texture that will remain in mind long after the glass is finished. Red Paradigm Hill L'ami Sage Pinot Noir 2013, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria 'L'ami Sage' is the single vineyard that provides fruit for this wine showing a true expression of 'terrior' that is supported by a philosophy of minimal intervention and purity of varietal expression. Offering a concentrated nose of plum, blackberries and cherries with a hint of tobacco leaf and spice. The palate is abundant with blackcurrant, delicate spice and displays savoury tannins giving overall structure to the wine. Shaw + Smith Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz 2014, Adelaide Hills, South Australia Envisaged over a long lunch, the intention of creating refined cool climate wines has very much been achieved at Shaw + Smith. Nestled close to Hahndorf, the 46 hectare Balhannah vineyard sits at an altitude of 420 metres. Producing shiraz in this vintage that is deep ruby in colour with hints of dark fruits, black pepper, spice and liquorice aromas. The wine is elegant, medium bodied with great shape and mouthfeel. Evans & Tate "The Evans & Tate" Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Margaret River, Western Australia A lift from the red fruits like strawberry and raspberry add a pretty note to an otherwise dark and dense wine. There's a herbal, eucalypt like character too. Fine a elegant on the palate, with soft approachable tannins and a bright and juicy fruit appearance. Dessert Lillypilly Noble Blend 2011, Riverina, New South Wales This is one stunningly aromatic dessert wine with tropical fruits and glorious fresh vital passionfruit, lychees and pineapple. This wine is a lighter style with lively acidity supporting the fruit characters. Sweet but balanced and seamless in delivery. Will have you wanting more. |
