Somewhat belated list of suggestions for you to try while there: Michter’s 10 year bourbon, Jack Daniels 12 (10 or 14 also acceptable! nothing like the old no. 7 they had on the plane), E.H. Taylor Single Barrel, Old Weller Antique 107 (Single Barrel / CYPB if available for a non-extortionate price, same distillate as Van Winkle 12y Lot B). Getting a good Sazerac there is a nice idea too (the cocktail, not the eponymous rye sold by Buffalo Trace). If you want to go up in proof it’s worth trying Stagg, - basically barrel strength Buffalo Trace. George T Stagg is my favorite, a 15 year aged version of that, but very hard to find so often $$$. Same goes for Michter’s 20, Eagle Rare 17, William Larue Weller and King of Kentucky. Those are my personal favorites but they’re a bit unobtainable.

CYPB stands for ‘create your perfect bourbon’, it was a Buffalo Trace (who owns Weller, Pappy van Winkle, Sazerac, Eagle Rare, EH Taylor, Blanton’s) thing where they took suggestions and ended up with a wheated bourbon aged on the highest warehouse floors for eight years, and bottled at 95 proof.

Russell's Reserve 15 is a must-try. It was available in abundance (by the $53 shot, not in bottles) at the Wild Turkey visitors center outside Lawrenceburg a few weeks ago. RR15 is probably the best bourbon I've had recently. If you are going to Wild Turkey, you may be able to buy a bottle of something (again, not RR13 or RR15) and have it signed by a living legend of bourbon: Jimmy Russell. |
Last picture looks a little blurry; wonder why:)

I believe the Master Blend is either sold only at the EW/HH gift shops or at least only inside Kentucky with extremely limited distribution even within the commonwealth. |

I'm curious what you thought about the Evan Williams Master Blend on your bourbon flight. I think it's gone up in price since I bought a bottle there to share with the hospitality suite crowd at a previous LEX Horse & Bourbon Do but it was a big hit back then.
