A little retrospective on the tours as we bus our way back to the pick up point. Each tour was around £200. Yesterdays tour offered fair value and I’ll not rave about it but if someone was planning on taking the tour I wouldn’t dissuade them. Todays tour was not value for money nor a good use of time, I definitely would not recommend this one. Too much time for brunch, far too much time at the Kentucky Artisan, and then the large drive out to Buffalo Trace.

If I was coming back I’d definitely leave more time in Louisville for the various experiences, and I’d do a private tour.

Enjoying your trip report very much.

Your Buffalo Trace experience was the inverse of ours. 10ish years ago we stopped by on a spring Tuesday and... tour no problem but it was primary day and they couldn't serve or tasted anything!

Once the polls closed for the day alcohol was no problem. Of course that was after all the tasting rooms closed! By then we were at a restaurant in Louisville with a great by-the-glass list. They let us pre-order and abou 1 minute after the polls closed we were enjoying some very nice bourbon!

Everyone has decided to return to the Moxy for nightcaps as we have an early start across the board tomorrow.

At 20:30 the bar is pretty quiet

I think it’s time for a farewell old fashioned

Here's me thinking your first day in Louisville was the Bourbon tour, then the actual Bourbon tour started the next day :D

Good morning from the 275 somewhere between Louisville and Cincinnati where it is a little after 7am.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...27e17b69a.jpeg

First flight of the day is to JFK, departing at almost 11am and landing a couple of hours later.

I need to check and short ship my broken bag to LHR today, it’s rather weighty and sloshy :D

Cincinnati airport was very quiet this morning and I was airside in minutes

Once past security there is a choice of tunnels with travelators or a train to take you to the A and B gates. I chose to walk to A and then jump on the train to B, it really is no distance at all, I just took the train for fun

Up the escalators to the gates themselves

And into the very spacious and bright terminal

Close to gate 21 is the lounge. This is surprisingly Small, seating for no more than fifty very friendly people.

A little bite to eat, and another surprise, very tasty, better than it looked.

Lovely staff in here too, they’d fit right in in Newcastle :)

I’ve now got an hour or more before I need to head to the gate so time to catch up on the world in general. It’s been fun touring with others but being in a group means pretty much zero time to oneself. Enjoyed the trip, now happy to be back solo :D

CVG used to be a significant Delta hub so it's a big beautiful airport that's pretty underutilized now. I haven't been in a while but I sense that it's held up better than Pittsburgh (abandoned by American/USAir). And definitely St. Louis (American/TWA).

Its definitely holding up well, everything look clean and fresh and in good order, a really nice airport

There is a crew outfitters shop across the way and so I had to go and be nosy. Couldn’t resist these

It’s not as if my bags don’t have enough tags already :D

Very cool TR. I do not drink Bourbon but enjoyed reading.
By the way I visit the US once or twice a year for work and every time the quality of the food is shockingly crap. Fried processed everything.

The best food we had was the brunch (shame about the wait and service) and the pizza!

Having drunk enough coffee in the lounge to keep an elephant awake I took a little walk to the gate

Still almost a half hour to boarding so plenty of time for a little wander and explore
