64 countries/territories. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were last, Kenya will be next in Feb, but between now and then I will likely add Colombia and Guatemala to the list. To me, visiting a new country means visiting something significant about it. A short 8 hour layover in a city would not count. A one night stay with various sightseeing would. I do not travel just for the sake of visiting new countries. I have been to the same country multiple times, including twice to OZ in the past 26 months. Certain countries require multiple trips to be explored.

Great start. If you look at east and south eastern Europe can easily, quicky and cheaply double it .

Thank you.

My map is pretty blank east and south east of the Czech Republic, that's true. I will try to work on it next year.

Somaliland has it's own currency, and I needed a visa from the Somaliland government. My passport is stamped "Somaliland". It is certainly not Somalia.

By that logic New Caledonia is a country and so is Hong Kong, etc.

I agree that Somaliland is its own country. For that matter, so is Puntland. They have their own culture and borders. If there were enough infrastructure the UN would recognize them as their own countries, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.

Making slow progress. In Kyrgyzstan at the moment, which is roughly #143.

Belize and Ecuador in December, Tonga in January, then planning to knock off the Caucasus countries and remaining 'Stans in April/May. A little afraid of going to one of them though.
