Some large bunches of flowers in vases on podiums strategically placed throughout the passenger cabins, perhaps some top-flight art purchased or borrowed from one of the world's leading galleries, an improved stage for the string quartet that should be employed to entertain us passengers while waiting for take off or during any other untoward delays on the ground ... all of these things would help to make the plane less plain.

If I'm in an aisle seat traveling with a small carry on that fits under my seat, and I'm ready to go, I will go as soon as I can. There's no need to wait for someone else to remove their bag. If everyone who was traveling light in an aisle seat deplaned first, that would clear the plane for others.

Is it just me or does anyone else find:
1. the basic premise of this thread from a logic/courtesy perspective
2. the fact it's still going strong
utterly baffling?

...and we veer even further off course from the original topic
But to answer your question (which others have already answered), I saw the error as soon as it posted so I edited. What you should have done was quoted me and my error would have been memorialized for all time for all to see!

Back on topic - I read this thread a few days ago and found the idea as ridiculous as most of you seem to. However, I was very surprised to be on a JQ flight from AKL-CHC the other day and hear the FA announce during the "Welcome to Christchurch" speech, something like "If other passengers have already retrieved their luggage from the overhead lockers then please wait until the aisle is clear before stepping out to retrieve yours". That wasn't the exact phrasing, which I wish I could remember, but I was amazed at the message.

Exactly, according to the OP's procedure, 1A and 1D would be the last ones off the plane, as everyone in the rows behind them, would already be standing up before they get a chance.

The whole premise of the thread seems bizarre to me. Personally, it pi$$es me off when someone rushes ahead 4 or 5 rows and stands in front of MY row, preventing me and my seatmates from getting access to the overhead.
