When Viasa went under, their licences to Europe were scattered by destination country by the Venezuelan CAA across multiple of their regional carriers, of which only Avensa even got started, with a couple of DC-10s leased from Varig. They at least got Lisbon, Madrid and Milan/Rome, the best set - there's a significant Portuguese and Italian diaspora in Venezuela. The UK, in contrast, has never had any significant contact with Venezuela. After a year or two the two DC-10s went back to Varig for a major check, it was never paid for so they never came back, and that was the end of Avensa's European venture.

Indeed it was Ryanair but the route was Galway GWY to Luton LTN.

about the only city on the west coast of FL that we haven’t mentioned is Sarasota/SRQ (well, there’s also Naples/APF but I don’t think they had scheduled service in 2008) ... how about Piedmont (as American Eagle) with a CRJ-200
