Hello, a bit of a newbie trying to figure out a mini-RTW via Aeroplan.

When I use the MPM feature on KVS, the mileage numbers are different than two online MPM calculators. Keeping in mind the 5% overage Aeroplan allows I can't fit in the stopover I wanted but could if using the other calculators.

Are the KVS numbers the one I should be going by or is there an online industry standard out there. I don't want to get everything together to book and find out that I'm either over my MPM or rather short and could have fit another leg in. Thanks!

What's your proposed routing?

tommy99 Jul 4, 2013 3:18 pm

Thanks, I think I might have read this wrong - pehaps you can confirm. My MPM routing is 12,676. Does Aeroplan work with a straight MPM between the start and finish, in this case 12,676 but then allows milage (5% overage) up to 13,309. So in this case my routing MPMs should be fine?

The Mobile Companion Availability Engine is currently experiencing issues with flights that depart earlier than ~06:00am (such as the EY 211 flight in question). However, you can still access Timetables & Seats Maps for it.

Looking to test out the KVS tool, are there any coupons or vouchers available for FT members?

While there are no Coupons, you can use of the 2-month membership options to 'try' the KVS Tool or take advantage of the annual bonus (which is included automatically):

Powersearch Feedback Beta

Thanks for letting me try the Beta and suggest improvements.

Currently the Beta stops when it reaches a "find". What I'd prefer it to do is to carry on searching and populate a list unti it reaches the final date in the set date range. I'd then like to print to a printer or even better a csv file the results so that I can put together a list of outward and return possibilities. At the moment my chosen manual method/way is to work through the BA calender and manually add the availability to a spreadsheet until I come up with an outward and return dates the make a viable trip. KVS would help document that directly to a spreadsheet if a saveable populated list that can be CSV saved. This would present a clear KVS advantage over simply using the BA site.

Even better would be if there was an option to merge lists ie search outward and continually add to a CSV file for say 60 days and then when working on returns use the date in the existing file as the field key and merge the return finds into the already created outward file. To make this clearer, this would mean a date column followed by flight numbers and any other detail for the outward legs followed by the return flights in the following columns. This would then produce automatically what I spend hours working on and would be a real plus for KVS.

The other suggestion is that when the search hits a find it remains on the same date of the find by default. This means that when it stops after finding a flight you have to manually reset the search date for the following day onwards otherwise it just keeps finding the same flight. I'd prefer the default after a hit to be the following day.

I can see substantial advantages if the list making suggestions I made were incorporated but I'm interested to also hear what are the advantages in using KVS in the current Beta form for a power search as against simply using the BA calender?

Singapore Airlines award availability query

Looking at SQ award availability I see the notation CS~.

Can someone explain what this means. I know what CS+ and CS- are but I couldn't find any reference to this notation.

Comments on Beta Power Search Feature

Hi KVS: Thanks for allowing me to beta test the new 7-day search feature. I focused my review on the Star alliance search since I am primarily a UA flyer. Here are my comments:

I agree with previous posters that having a larger window than +/- 7 days would be desirable. With this new feature, I can search an entire month with 4 clicks. Even if you decide not to go for a larger search window, this is a great improvement.

In the output window, consider adding a column for "date". The reason is that it sometimes get confusing looking at the "arrive" column which shows the time of arrival +X (where X is the day range).

It is somewhat confusing that it is possible to select a specific airline in two different areas of the same search. In the main box under the "Awards/StarAlliance-7D" window it is possible to specify a specific Star alliance carrier, or all of them. But then also under the "Filter" tab this is also possible. Is it really necessary to have this twice? Can cause confusion especially if the filter is not set to the same carrier as on the first page.

Hello,

I am a new user to the KVS tool. I am having problems with Awards/CX searches. It gives me an error of

Data Source Error [RD-5]:

"Error 404--Not Found"

Thanks.

uk1 Jul 9, 2013 9:44 am

Can I request an enhancement?

When printing availability for a day could there be a field added for the date?

This is so that when you copy subsequent days onto the same page each is dated without having to do it manually.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, however, you appear to be confusing the existing [Awards/StarAlliance-7D] Method (which allows 7-Day searches in a single query) with the new Beta Power Search functionality (which further extends the search range to 30 days/6+ months).

You can use the Power Search in conjunction with the [Awards/StarAlliance-7D] Method to scan *A Award Availability for up to 6+ Months.

You can also use Power Search with any other Method to scan across a period of up to 30 days.

This is something that is being potentially considered. In the meantime, you can click a segment to easily see the exact departure date. Both departure and arrival date indicators follow the requested date as a base, so if both departure and arrival date indicators show "+X", then you know that the flight arrives the same day.

The [Filter] allows for more flexible airline criteria -- for example, you can specify "SQ; TG" using the [Filter], instead of having to pick a single airline.
