Need to redownload the Beta version again and install it??

You need to download V3.5.9910 using the special Beta link (sent via e-mail).

But those have no routing rules in them, so that isn't much help.

OK, but now it also costs extra. I understand that there was much development effort required to find a data source and figure out a means to parse it and display it back, but it is pretty easy to argue that the folks who had paid for platinum actually LOST something and now that the same functionality is back it costs more.

Not at this moment in time. But routing rules were taken away before with no commensurate drop in price. And now that they are coming back they cost extra. I know it isn't your fault that the original data source disappeared, but to claim that we have to now pay extra to get something that used to be included at a price point but that nothing was taken away seems somewhat disingenuous to me.

Well, if they still had Routing Rules in them, then they would not have been decommissioned in the first place :).

There is no doubt that when a particular feature becomes no longer available, then one may experience a loss of the related functionality (assuming they were actually utilizing it).

However, as mentioned previously, it is not the same feature, notwithstanding the fact that its functionality is similar to that of the old feature.

So the 'loss of functionality' (which happened months ago) only became an issue when the new feature was implemented? In other words, if there was no effort made to develop the new Routing Rules function, these concerns would have never surfaced? :)

If they were, indeed, intentionally "taken away", then it would have been different, but that is not the case.

Furthermore, by the same token, no new features should ever be introduced for existing members (e.g. at the Platinum level)? :)

As previously mentioned, there are personalized solutions available for existing Platinum-tier members on a case-by-case basis, which are best discussed via e-mail or using the Contact Form.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Certainly not the same codebase but it seems similar enough to the old functionality that it is a 1:1 swap from my perspective as a user/subscriber.

If I've paid for a product that has feature X and feature X is no longer available do I care why? No. I just know that I paid for one thing and now it is no longer there. The RTW fares is another good example of this. It was added to the product in the equivalent of what is now the Sabre:TVN method previously, available to Gold subscribers. Now it will only be available at the Diamond level.

The flip side is that you've already done the development for 99% of the product so why do we pay to renew the license every 3/6/12 months?

I appreciate that there is some consideration being given to the situation and I appreciate the development work that has gone into the tool. But this particular issue can be read both way pretty easily, depending on which side of the financial transaction one is on. You seem to be keeping most of the same basic features available as long as folks keep paying, but for new things the cost to play has gone up significantly, depending on which particular bit one is interested in.

Once again, what may "seem" and the reality are two different things:

Over the past 5 years, there have been approx. 60 versions of the KVS Tool released, yet there are just 2/3 elite membership levels.

Compared to the overall number of new features and other enhancements, which were added during this period, the re-alignments in question (both real and perceived) are truly insignificant.

I would have to agree with this. The routing rules being gone was rather annoying. Having to pay more to get them now that they are back is rather annoying as well. As a customer, the details of where the data comes from do not really concern me. I just see that I had something and now I don't. I now have to pay extra for it if I want it.

As mentioned previously, there has been no intention to "annoy" any KVS Tool members. Being a member since Aug 2005, I hope you will also be able to see the flip side of this 'glass half full/empty' argument :).

Once again, I would invite anyone with similar concerns to share them via e-mail or the Contact Form, and remain confident that a mutually-satisfactory solution can be found on a case-by-case basis.

I was wondering what is the difference in the 2 fares below:

[KVS Availability Tool 3.5.9910/Platinum - Sabre: Fares/TVN/CA]
Code:

BOM  Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji IN [VABB]
EWR  New York Newark Liberty Int'l NJ US [KEWR]
OW  Jun-May

Carrier    From    To    Fare      Cur  Expiry    Min  Max  Fare Basis
---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  ---  -------------
LH        BOM    NYC    30792  INR                  12M  QRCOWAAW/II11
LH        BOM    NYC    32392  INR                  12M  QRCOWAAW

Is one of them (QRCOWAAW/II11) the online fare from LH? (discounted fare charged by LH on their website)

Or is this a currency exchange deviation?

Note that the Amadeus base fare (quoted by a local TA is: Rs. 32,100/-)

For exact fares in various currencies you need to use DotRes:

So DotRes and Amadeus have a discrepancy in a base fare value of Rs. 300/- - I wonder why?

So, therefore wondering which method is the accurate one...is LH putting forward fares in EUR and converting them to INR??

There should be no discrepancy between DotRes and Amadeus -- perhaps your TA is adding some other 300 INR charge (e.g. commission)?

No, he was reading off the screen - I asked about exchange rates, and it appears that "fifty-eight" something was the EUR-INR rate stipulated there, but that's very low for a EUR exchange...

Don't have Amadeus access, so don't know the IATA rate at present - I suspect that LH has fares denominated in EUR, their home currency, and this is why there is a deviation.

I was wondering why LH would do this - any reason for them to initiate such a charge?
