I use KVS for prices, class availability but not for awards because it is not enough directly clear to understand. I am not a professional, only a short sigth:cool:ed...

And I still don't know what it is that you believe is not "directly clear to understand" :). Ironically, the award availability in KVS Tool is actually easier to understand than fares and regular availability, since you don't even need to know the booking class codes ...

According to this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...76#post4122176 I class is the Business award class and T is the Coach award class. I is a hidden class that ExpertFlyer shows and it is unlikely that they would hide a regular non-award or upgrade class.

Are you saying that D is for upgrades from coach to business or did they change the class from T to D for Coach awards?

why KVS can not be also explicit for award flights than "expert flyer"?

Actually, I think what delanotre was trying to explain is that ExpertFlyer no longer requires you to know the award or upgrade class to search for it with the introduction of our Award & Upgrade Search tool last month. On both the request and response pages, the classes are pre-listed with full descriptions for easy use, and as always show the exact number of awards or upgrades available (as shown by this screen cap)

Also, you can show up to 3 additional regular paid-fare classes in addition to the award/upgrade classes in one search. This way you don't have to do a 2nd regular availability search to compare say a business upgrade class with the discount business fare class.

And KVS Tool no longer required its users to know the award class code(s) to search for, since the introduction of the SkyTeam Award search method in Jan 2007 ;).

The award class (e.g. YS/WS/CS/FS) descriptions are the same for all airlines, for which award availability is supported (AC/UA/US/LH/OS/SK/TP/LO/JK/BD/TK/SQ/NZ/NH/OZ/TG/SA/JP/OU/KF // QF/BA/AA/AY/IB/MA/LA + EI/FJ // NW/SU/AM/AF/CO/DL/KL + AS/HA/YX), and can be found in the KVS Tool User Guide: http://www.kvstool.com/FAQ.php#Methods

Thank you, this is what i meant, but I am not an english speaking expert:cool:
BTW, a new business award "E" class reserved for Elite+ is available on AF for USA/Canada and PPT.

But, one reason I do not use Expert Flyer is that it is a very light tool for (awards and upgrades) Skyteam flyers, even if it is very explicit (as I recognize above)

Pardon me if I am wrong, but I don't find anything about 8 compagnies (!) of Skyteam alliance in http://www.expertflyer.com/popup/classes.jsp
id est: CO, KL, KE, AZ, SU, KE, CZ and UX...
that are available( but not as explicit, I agree) in KVS tool
Could you tell us why?
Thanks

Good question. Since this has been asked before, we chose to answer it on our blog here with a detailed explanation. Please feel free to continue the discussion in the blog comments.

Thankfully, KVS Tool users are too intelligent to fall for such a Black PR campaign ...

Ouch! Enough of this. You guys have good, but different, services both of which are well respected by their users - many of which use both tools in case you haven't noticed. Delanotre was asking a legitimate question that pointed out one of many differences between a service that gives a numerical answer to award inventory and one that gives a relative answer each with different ways of querying for it. Black PR? Give me a break.

Now back to the thread......

Need UA help

Okay I have a stupid question. I just got the KVS Plat tool and just cant seem to figure out how to tell if there is upgrade space for domestic/intl travel on UA. I'm use to using seatcounter and I know that this tool is better... I put in my city pairs use the Apollo search causee I want to see all classes available and also X and I inventory but I don't even see zeros for my search. I know I can search for awards under STN, but is that just for mileage awards or for upgrdes too (i assume mileage awards because you need to enter in ANA #).

Thanks

UA's award and upgrade classes have 2 sets of internal 'nicknames', which often causes a confusion:

UA's award classes (FS=O AKA R/XF, CS=I AKA O/XC, YS=X AKA N/XY) are shown via the [SNT: Awards/StarAlliance] Method.
UA's upgrade classes (X/NF, I/NC) are not currently supported by the KVS Tool.

Pls see http://FAQ.KVSTool.com for details ...

Thank you, any suggestions on how to find the upgrade inventory besides seatcounter.

Register at UAL.com and choose 'an expert' under
My profile: My travel preferences ->Display preferences -> Availability format

if that setting is in place and you do any flight search you can see the detailed fare bucket availability when you place the mouse pointer over 'Show flight details '

UAL.com (as described by oliver2002 above) is the only other known source for UA upgrade availability...

Just a quick question to the experts:
Does KVS look up internet bookings on Malaysia Airlines?

I picked up a $0++ fare and a $29++ fare today and would like to see the PNR in a PNR lookup. MH seems to not have a straight lookup facility on its site.

viewtrip.com seems to not work for my PNRs.

One last thing - will it run OK on a crappy low-end Compaq 2Ghz Celeron w. 1Gb RAM and the horrible hog Vista?

You can enter your eticket number at the "OneWorld E-Ticket" function. Although MH is not part of OW it still works. I even entered my UA ticket, which has just UA flights, and it worked.
