They all want to route the return through Madrid or JFK or anything other than the "simple" route that I've got on hold. The same goes for looking at things on EF. I can see it on google flights, and I can then "push" it from there to AA or Expedia, but then "weird things" happen (on Expedia, it forces the outbound to become I/J, with the return in Economy K/T). AA seems to work OK (when pushed in from google), but the price balloons to $3200 for PE. If I build the whole thing as "Business" on google, I can get a $2800 fare in I/J which will push to Expedia, but--having never actually booked anything through Expedia, I'm not particularly fond of that option and would prefer to book through AA or BA.

You don't list the arrival times, so one thing to check is that neither of the overnights is 24 hours or longer. Also, instead of fighting so hard to buy this itinerary online, you could always call AA or BA to book. If you're nt high enough status to avoid an agent-assist fee, the agent may waive it when you explain that it doesn't show the flights you want online.

Is it fair to assume that Qatar availability is broken on Expert Flyer? EF shows zero available for some QR routes (LAX to DOH, SFO to DOH, DFW to DOH, etc) while both AA and Alaska show availability using miles (the lower end miles and NOT the Alaska's overpaid miles)

I'm trying to view the seat map/set a seat alert, but although EF can pull up the economy seat map, the business cabin results in an error: "PRS NOT ALLOWED THIS CLASS OR ZONE". This is for KL610 SLC-AMS departing 11 May 2022. The Y seat map as shown in EF matches what's shown on the airline web site in terms of config and which seats are occupied, so it seems the flight and date are correct.

Searching this thread for that error message led to this reply:

It means that the airline isn't allowing seat assignments (either in general or by agents) for that cabin/flight and therefore won't return a seat map.

however my existing biz seat was assigned by a DL phone agent in the course of booking a DL/KL ticket. In addition, I am able to view the seat map via both the KL/DL web sites and the DL app, and am able to change seats in either system and have it correctly reflected in the other.

Is there perhaps some alternate cause in play?

Not sure, but that is the actual error that KL is returning via the GDS which means they don't want outside agents assigning seats in that cabin right now, for whatever reason.

Availability is still not shown on EF. Is it like a few day fix or a few months fix?

More than days, less than months. We will let you know when it is ready.

Hello Experts,

If I need to search for Availability for Mileage award ticket using AA miles for Qatar Flights on Expert Flyer should we select Airlines as AA or Qatar ? And Qatar Awards working on Expert Flyer ? I wanted to keep alert if something opens up is this possible for Award tickets also.

You search for the operating airline, in this case Qatar. However no QR awards are not available at the moment, however if you email us at customercare@ we will add you to the notification list for when it is available again.

Maybe this isn't the right place, please point me to a better thread if this is a case.

Looking at availabilty at an upcoming flight, all Y fares are 0, with a few fares still open in C. Does this always mean that the Y fares are sold out and this cabin is full? Or is it practice by the airline (ET in this case) to void all Y buckets this close to takeoff (2 days) in order to force ad-lib pax to fly C?

For those airlines that are frequently used by FTers the dedicated airline forum would be the place to get helpful insights into how they approach revenue management. For Ethiopian it will be harder, but you might try asking (or looking for a helpful past thread) here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...-airlines-471/

I am trying to set an award availability alert for a flight from SLC to BOS +-1 day. I don't care what time or which connections. The way I interpret the functionality is that you have to set a separate alert for every single leg of every single flight during each day...is that real? I'm showing something like 10+ flights per day, most of which have a layover somewhere leaving me with the need to create 20+ alerts and that's just for the outbound trip on ONE airline! I have a hard time imagining that this is that non-user-friendly. Can someone let me know what I'm missing? Otherwise it doesn't seem to be worth the effort, let alone the price.

Yes that's "real" however you only need to set an alert for each flight once, even it's is pared with different flight options, so there aren't that many alerts to set. This is for our current site, however if you wish to use the beta site (beta.expertflyer.com) you can set an alert for a given day/airline/class that is not flight specific (for any flight that day).

Ok that beta site seems much better, thanks!

So here's what I did with the alerts. Can you tell me if this is the best way to set it up?
  • Google flights search from SLC to BOS.
  • Delta, AA, United, JetBlue, and Alaska fly that route on the dates I want.
  • I've got points in other partner airlines like British, Air Canada, Turkish, etc., that I'd prefer to use for a cheaper redemption.
  • Create an award alert on my dates between those two cities for Delta, AA, United, JetBlue, and Alaska.
  • As soon as I get an alert that something is available on one of those, I could then use points with a partner (ie British) to book the available award seat?

BA, IB, AY, QR -- all still unavailable, and have been for quite some time. Yet we're still paying full price for our EF subscriptions.

VERY frustrating and no email from the people that run this. Just cancelled my auto-renew as I fly BA a lot.
