Which mode are you playing most of the time, is it the classic one?

I tried many apps to use maps on ipod without internet, I liked My Maps the best.
Allows you to download an area and use later. Also allows for place markers. If there is a wifi connection nearby (secure or not), it will be able to tell your location on the map. No automatic routing. I did not find any way (even with a jailbroken iPod/iPhone) to save an actual Google Map or a map from Google My Maps. There was an app on Cydia that allowed you save Google Maps by modifying the Google Maps cache limit (I used it last year, worked great).... but does not work with newer versions of the iPod/iPhone OS. Last time it worked as May 2010. 3.1.2 is the latest it works in. There is one for 4.x you can find on google I am trying it now but we'll see. EDIT: Working OFFLINE actual Google Map for iOS 4.x adding Cydia repository http://cydia.myrepospace.com/Luart/ and get Maps Enhancer. Appears in Settings. Jailbroken only. This enables unlimited saving/caching of any section you load while on Wifi using the Google Maps app. |

Haven't tried Dropbox but it sounds like iCloud replicates Dropbox features, assuming most apps support it?
|
Yup. I think I'll use Dropbox for random files and music/photos/calendar on iCloud.
Current gCal/iCal combo sucks because events created in Google Calendar don't create notifications correctly on iCal. Now I'll use iCloud to sync Mac/iPod instead of going through Google. |

Time Stamp and Date Stamp
Couldn't figure out how to automatically get time/date stamp on photos, found two apps:
1. timestamp! - iTunes app 2. Stampr - cydia app http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6h44o4S0j8 Got #2 to work but only with the apple camera app, couldn't get it to work with camera pro plus. Stampr saves the photo you took along with a second copy that has a time stamp |
Today's Wall St. Journal contains a list of useful travel-related apps that can be used without a data connection. Some require that you download maps, exchange rates, etc. before you leave home.
