The latest hack is so easy anyone could do it. And it doesn't even jailbreak the phone:
http://lifehacker.com/5295452/enable...your-iphone-30 I won't bother. I have my boss on board with either using iPhone tethering (paid, once they have a plan) or getting a 3G USB card (which I'm actually leaning towards). |

You might also want to think about Verizon MiFi. Big plus: it's by Verizon. Minor Pluses: Works like WiFi, hence no cable or USB hookups required; 5 devices can share Internet connection.
Minus: Another device to be charged. And reviews mention that while charging you can't turn it off and get dinged for data transfer (I don't know if this is true, however). I wouldn't need to share my connection. Perhaps if it was more than 5GB for $60/month (same price as the USB option with AT&T) or if I needed to share my connection I'd see this as great. I don't, though. I'd like something simple. |

The aircraft carrier one is impossibly hard. Everything crosses each others paths and everything lands so close together. I think my high score on it is 15 and I consider myself at least decent at the other two levels (108/106 high, respectively). It's just too frustrating to even try.

I want to add one more point to my review of the 3.0 OS
Sending SMS: No longer are you locked on the screen while it sends. The sending status bar gets pushed to the top and you are free to go back and send other messages at the same time. As well messages that don't go through get stored and can be resent when you have a better connection (unfortunately it doesn't seem like it will do it automatically). |
I played with Airport Lite. Has anyone bought that airport game? It is game about running and managing an airport.

i picked up my iPhone yesterday. Wow! It is simply stunning.
On the other hand, I didn't think there would be much demand here in Memphis. Boy was I wrong. I stood in line OUTSIDE for 45 minutes waiting to get into the store. It was 96 degrees and the usual unbelievably high Memphis humidity. They did pass around bottles of water. Anyone wanting to go into the store had to wait in line outside. I think Apple could learn some lessons from Disney. I wish they had given us numbers and let us browse. I would have bought a bunch of accessories, I'm sure. But after standing in heat and then going through all the hassles of buying the phone, I was ready to leave! |
I'm a late iphone adopter as well. I was hoping for more improvements from the 3G S I held out for but it sure is a great toy.
apps I like (many were recommended here): Pandora Wapedia (for Wiki) Yelp craigsphone Remote SportsTap Currency Shazam The Weather Channel EdgeBrowser Run Keeper Kayak RiverGuide (whitewater river levels) |
Anyone have any push apps that are worthwhile or multiplayer games? The big one I am waiting for would be AIM.
|
Shazam
Pandora Traffic Cam (DC) Metro Schedule (DC) Guitar Toolkit Urbanspoon |
AIM finally updated to support push notifications (beejive, a multiclient IM app also updated, though I haven't bought it).
It works just as advertised and quite well at that. This was my first go at push apps and I was impressed with the speed of the notifications. It really did push it to my phone. My only gripe for the app is that when you sign off on your computer and you are still on in the background on your phone it does not come up as mobile or any other notification for other users that you are not at a computer and may not respond as quickly or as thoroughly. |
I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet, haven't gone back throug the 15 pages.
One of my absolute FAVOURITE applications on the iphone is the READ IT LATER application for the iphone. I have been using the web based version for over a year, and love it for capturing things I want to read, or locally archive. the iphone application SYCNS with the desktop and actually will bring ALL that stuff over to the iphone for offline viewing like on a plan or when coverage is poor. It works VERY well, READ IT LATER http://www.ideashower.com/support/read-it-later/ |
Wish some of the laggard programmers would make their apps OS3 friendly.
|
BeeJive IM with push notifications rocks! (I'm awaiting the release of IM+ with push notifications though)
