I like eating locally when I travel I use locavore not cheap, but really quite useful for finding farmer's markets on the road. Easy to eat well and locally with the app. Love dropbox and tripit as well.

I use SugarSync instead of the more popular Dropbox. SugarSync is more flexible and they have a great iPhone app too!

NTRglobal (formerly) NTRconnect ...

Like LogMeIn ... But their iPad/iPhone app is free, not $30.

FLY'ON at the App Store. An excellent airport application, solely for LYS.

I tried SugarSync, but found it didn't sync properly. So, i'd end up with mismatches on all my devices. This was a couple of years ago.

I moved onto DropBox and have been very happy.

I really like how Dropbox syncs with programs like iAnnotate on the iPad automatically. Also with my some expense trackers and 1Password across all devices.

pogoplug - personal cloud storage

www.pogoplug.com

Your own personal cloud which works on your pc, mac, iphone, android, blackberry, etc.

I've had this for a couple of years now. Its a tiny linux box that connects to your home network and you attach multiple usb drives to it. Anything you put on the pogoplug you can access globally. There are no annual charges, just the one time purchase, plus adding your own usb drive.

It syncs my "my docs" folder when I'm on my home network, so the docs are always in sync and then everything is accessible via the cloud.

I don't work for them but am a fan!

Great tip!

Thanks for the heads-up. Downloaded each and will use if/when I visit the parks.

Show Me the 'Light'

Yeh, I know, but I don't know how many times in the past few weeks I have actually used the 'Light' App on my iPhone 4 to find something, or look at something in low light, or the dark. It's invaluable.

Just got Celsius and Fahrenheit. They both show the temperature as a push notification bubble, similar to the red bubble for new emails, right on the home screen.

That is certainly a clever idea on how to get around Apple's limitation on background apps. Though, from the reviews it looks like it is still hit and miss right now.

Flipboard and Instapaper combo

These have been mentioned before but I thought I'd resurrect them together. Flipboard is a great app, albeit limited to two pages of news feeds, but it does allow you to mark any news displayed to be Read Later which syncs with your Instapaper account. Instapaper downloads news articles and WebPages for offline reading on your iPad. Additionally with Instapaper you can use a JavaScript bookmark in your PCs or Mac's browser allowing you to send almost any web page into Instapaper on your iPad. Great for catching up on reading on the flight but remember to sync Instapaper before you join your flight.

iPad books

I just stumbled upon a couple of interactive books (but with video, social media and lots of bells and whistles) for the iPad which are really cool. I know they're not games, but a great traveling distraction. http://www.zentromedia.com/

And, if you're looking for Facebook apps, there's a cool quiz game that is currently doing a weekly sweepstake for $50 if you play. http://apps.facebook.com/oopschallenge
