Maybe someone in Korea or Japan who bought iPhone before release of iPod Touch?
AFAIK, there's no GSM network there.

Actually, as long as AAPL continues making me money the way it has for the past year, I couldn't care less when their fiscal New Year's party is.

I'm sure wireless carriers have to bid on exclusive contracts. In time the iphone will be made unlocked. Apple did the right thing-letting some carrier pay big bucks for a few years then they'll make it unlocked with far better features and people will buy again.

I doubt Apple cares if the phone is hacked or unlocked. The have to create "software upgrades" to keep ATT happy.

That is a very interesting question. Lawyers anyone? I find it hard to believe it is legal to require a credit card to purchase. "Legal tender for all debts public and private" as it says on the money.

I believe you have gravely misunderstood what "all debts, public and private" means.

Legal tender can be refused if the debt only arises "substantially contemporaneously with the offer of payment."

You should read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_tender

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invitation_to_treat

Legal tender can not be refused for the settlement of debts. So go ahead and pay your water bill in a mixture of pennies, two dollar bills, and a few Susan B Anthony's if you'd like.

Thankfully not a lawyer, but a 2nd year college student.

Yes, someone pointed out the difference between debt and payment on another thread as well.

It's legal. The merchant can set whatever payment types they wish.

You can only rent cars with credit cards.

A lot of hotels only take credit cards.

Auto rentals, too - and some don't even accept debit cards.

Any music you already own (CD or mp3) you simply import into iTunes (just drag and drop), and then sync it to your phone. Same goes for movies/video.

Sorry to bring this thread back from limbo, but I just picked up a 2-pack of the Power Support Crystal Film for my iPhone.

Wow...great product. I had been putting off a screen protector because I was never really happy with the ones I used on my Treo and I was worried about the touch sensitivity with the iPhone. The worries were totally unfounded and I wish I had gotten these from day 1 as I already have acquired a couple small scrathed on the screen (what precipitated this purchase). The price is a little on the high side ($14.95 for 2 films), but I think its a good investment.

Anyhow, just a ^ for these if anyone out there is looking for some screen protection.
