IOW, no dual 5G before iPhone 13 at least.

Hmm, so if I turn off the eSIM, I will have no problems toggling it off and on so that it's only using one network at a time?
You don't switch the esim on or off, you switch the line on it on or off. Subtle distinction, but more accurate since the esim is the equivalent of the sim tray. The lines are accessed on the first screen in the Settings Menu under Cellular. Touch either line and you have a toggle button option to "Turn On This Line". I don't expect 5G to be widespread in too many locations world wide for a while, and even when it is, it may not be included in the prepaid data services that are common due to possible cost factors.

I have not seen anything definitive regarding the concurrent dual sim access to 5g on new iPhones. If you have any supporting information, it would be appreciated.

Last night, my 12 would not work with a Qi charger. A restart resolved the Qi charging error. This indicates an iOS issue connecting to the Qi charger when the reboot resolves the problem. I have not seem any mention of magsafe charging problems. Supposedly Apple is aware of the problem and is working to resolve the Qi charging issue.

So is there consensus that Apple has a duty to work with non Apple chargers? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

I certainly remember when their products would not work reliably with non Apple charging cables a few years back. My desktop combo watch/Airpod/Qi phone charger pad gets hot if I charge my phone with a medium thick case on it, but stays room temp without the case. I don't blame Apple for that. Maybe your case is the issue.

I dont use a case with my iPhone when using a Qi charger. Performing a Windows like reboot resolves the problem. Apple specifically mentions the 12 product line works with Qi certified chargers. This is an issue for Apple to resolve because of their claim.

I've had the same thing happen with the magsafe charger for my wife's phone. A reboot fixed the issue. I also saw someone mention this same thing happening over on Macrumors. So there is definitely some software issue causing problems with wireless charging at times.

That said... most of the issues I've seen with QI chargers were more related to the new dimensions of the iPhone 12 phones + a combination of "foreign object detection" on some chargers not liking the presence of the magnets in the phone. For me properly aligning my phone on QI chargers has always been my biggest headache with the technology, something nicely solved by Magsafe OEM chargers as well as all of the 3rd party magsafe compatible chargers flooding the market now.

That is strange the MagSafe requires a phone reboot to charge. My son used a Qi charger for several years with his iPhone 8 without charging problems. He is experiencing the reboot before wireless charging.

Waiting for the iPhone to become Windows like with a blue screen of death 🤣🤞

I'm running iOS 14.5 Beta on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and have not had any problems or wireless charging glitches. But then I never had any with the wireless charger in my car or the desktop charger all the way back to my XR. I wonder what is the common link? I had been on 14.4 for a while without any issues.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max works fine on my QI charger. My sisters iPhone 12 Mini doesn't work on the same charger.

There is definitely an issue with at least some iPhones.

Have you tested it with and without the case? I was very surprised how much of a difference the thin case made in my desktop Qi heating up while charging with a case. I'm not a big fan of wireless charging mostly because battery life is so good these days, but mine works fine, just slowly. BTW, there was an update yesterday to the iOS 14.5 Beta, nothing changed that I noticed though.

I don't know if your charger is a stand-type or a puck type, but I've seen lots of issues posted by people who use the stand type: I think the issue between the mini and the pro max are vastly different dimensions. Remember the Achilles heel of wireless charging is alignment of coils. Many cheaper QI chargers have one inductive coil... or MAAYBE 2. So with the much smaller phone, the coil on the phone and on the charger may be out of alignment enough to where it simply won't charge. Some people on macrumors have solved this by putting a little bit of foam or something at the bottom of their QI stand, which in turn raises the Mini to a more optimal height to achieve that alignment.

I know my previous pixel 4XL from google was also quite finicky with chargers and alignment. Even with my OEM "Pixel Stand" the darn phone would often refuse to charge and give me a message "realign phone for wireless charging." That is on the OEM stand for the OEM phone!!

IMO Magsafe and its knockoffs are a life-saver when it comes to QI. I always hated QI charging previously. I now have 4 Apple Magsafe chargers (one on each nightstand, and one in each car) and other than the one night my wife's phone needed a reboot they have been working perfectly!! Furthermore, I have two non-apple 3rd party charger with embedded magsafe compatible magnets, they have also been working brilliantly.

I traded in my eligible iPhone X for an iPhone 12 Pro in November as part of a $700 trade-in promotion. AT&T let me know today (3+ months after they received the phone) that I would be receiving $0 trade-in credit because my calling plan was erroneously never upgraded to an eligible plan for the $700 trade in promotion. Has anyone experienced this hiccup and successfully gotten their due rebate?

Yes, one of my lines from November received all the back credits for 5 months on the last bill. I had to call trade in support which couldnt explain why the credits were never applied. They trade in rep told me to speak in person with the store in north Georgia but I live in north Texas. I dont the hiccup which caused the delay but it was eventually resolved after 5 bill cycles. All my other lines received credits on the 2nd bill cycle.

I tried AT&T customer service (45 minutes to get nowhere), but trade-in line could be a better bet.

Anyone have luck getting this resolved with an in-store rep?

Let me know if you need the number for the trade in group. There are 2 parts to the trade in line with the first line transferring you to the other group. I spoke to be both groups.

The store rep can change the plan to the correct plan if that is the issue.
