Last night, my 12 would not work with a Qi charger. A restart resolved the Qi charging error. This indicates an iOS issue connecting to the Qi charger when the reboot resolves the problem. I have not seem any mention of magsafe charging problems. Supposedly Apple is aware of the problem and is working to resolve the Qi charging issue.
I've had the same thing happen with the magsafe charger for my wife's phone. A reboot fixed the issue. I also saw someone mention this same thing happening over on Macrumors. So there is definitely some software issue causing problems with wireless charging at times.
That said... most of the issues I've seen with QI chargers were more related to the new dimensions of the iPhone 12 phones + a combination of "foreign object detection" on some chargers not liking the presence of the magnets in the phone. For me properly aligning my phone on QI chargers has always been my biggest headache with the technology, something nicely solved by Magsafe OEM chargers as well as all of the 3rd party magsafe compatible chargers flooding the market now.
