If you read post #234, although the story about Australian authorities is questionable, you would know that they plan to use A350 on European routes, starting 28 October. So I would say that your chances are minuscule...

Of course! Just to add some proof:
SQ207 (SIN-MEL) has been A350 since 11 August
QR914 (DOH-ADL) has been A350 since early May

Just flew the 747 in suite 1A on TG466. Wonderful flight. Better than the A350 guys if you can sit in the F cabin. Enjoy the 747 nose while you can. Absolutely love the new business class service too. No more trays. Loved it.

Currently, TG website listed 30 Oct 2016 as the BKK-MEL first flight for A350.

Hopefully, this schedule doesn't changed.

Took TG 465 BKK-MEL the other day: not the 350 or the 777 but a real old clunker 747, although I didn't mind too much as opportunities to fly it become fewer and fewer ( although I wouldn't want to make a habit of it).
A really good crew on the flight, like TG of old. This was Y.

Hi and welcome to FT!

Unfortunately I don't think the a350 will be coming to MEL anytime soon. But while Thai tries to figure out what plane they'll use instead the a350 is sitting there as a tentative aircraft type. I expect they'll update that quite soon.

Nobody actually knows. Its all rumours at the moment. For all we know the European authorities might not have approved the introduction of a new type by TG either. HS-THB has only just resumed flying this week after the HKT 'INCIDENT'.

the crew on my flight expected the 744 to be in Melbourne for 'a couple of months'. In the meantime for those in J snag those F suites and enjoy the classic experience in the nose of the 747.

It appears they are running the 3pm flight out of Melb on the 747, and it returns on the midnight flight from BKK. We are leaving Melb @ midnight, returning 8am... so we miss out both directions it seems :/

Yes, but most days the other flight is operated by the 77W, so full flats in biz class. Probably a better option for the majority of pax over the 747.

the coding and recording of the aircraft used seems to be a bit over the place... flight aware is using both the 773 and 77W to denote the full flat bed model. the angled 772s have been flying on Friday and Saturdays for the last couple weeks. (I was on a 773 that was actually full flat, so can confirm this is just an error in the way they are being recorded).

Thai's booking site will show 772/773 if it is an angled bed, and 777-300 for full flat (77W)

We will be flying on a Saturday, but not until early December. We were hoping to avoid the 772s.
