Just flew the 747 in suite 1A on TG466. Wonderful flight. Better than the A350 guys if you can sit in the F cabin. Enjoy the 747 nose while you can. Absolutely love the new business class service too. No more trays. Loved it.

Took TG 465 BKK-MEL the other day: not the 350 or the 777 but a real old clunker 747, although I didn't mind too much as opportunities to fly it become fewer and fewer ( although I wouldn't want to make a habit of it).
A really good crew on the flight, like TG of old. This was Y.

Unfortunately I don't think the a350 will be coming to MEL anytime soon. But while Thai tries to figure out what plane they'll use instead the a350 is sitting there as a tentative aircraft type. I expect they'll update that quite soon.

the crew on my flight expected the 744 to be in Melbourne for 'a couple of months'. In the meantime for those in J snag those F suites and enjoy the classic experience in the nose of the 747.

It appears they are running the 3pm flight out of Melb on the 747, and it returns on the midnight flight from BKK. We are leaving Melb @ midnight, returning 8am... so we miss out both directions it seems :/

Yes, but most days the other flight is operated by the 77W, so full flats in biz class. Probably a better option for the majority of pax over the 747.

the coding and recording of the aircraft used seems to be a bit over the place... flight aware is using both the 773 and 77W to denote the full flat bed model. the angled 772s have been flying on Friday and Saturdays for the last couple weeks. (I was on a 773 that was actually full flat, so can confirm this is just an error in the way they are being recorded).
Thai's booking site will show 772/773 if it is an angled bed, and 777-300 for full flat (77W)
