I think it is just bad English translation or missing words. I think it just means that they want to have A350 on both flights and nothing more...

Further to this:
Thai Airways International in this week’s schedule update further delays planned Airbus A350-900XWB service entry to Australia, as first A350 Bangkok – Melbourne flight being scheduled on 30OCT16, instead of 01OCT16.

As a result of the aircraft redeployment, TG465/466 service will see Boeing 747-400 operating from 01OCT16 to 25OCT16, 777-300ER from 26OCT16 to 29OCT16, instead of A350.

TG465 BKK0015 – 1305MEL 747 D
TG461 BKK0810 – 2000MEL EQV D

TG462 MEL0030 – 0600BKK EQV D
TG466 MEL1615 – 2145BKK 747 D

Do you happen to remember which reservation office/number you called? I tried London but no joy for F seats on a J booking (they're not selling F fares either)

Pretty sure i just called Australian number on Thai website. Just rechecked my booking and still showing 1A seat allocation.

If you booked through a TA then try them as they should be able to do it as the seat map in the Galileo Reservation System allows them to allocate seats in the F cabin.

Only applies to flights on 747 between Melbourne and Bangkok where they don't offer F fares.

Thanks. My bookings were made from UA and the flight concerned is actually the leg after MEL-BKK, namely BKK-ICN. Originally a 773 and just changed to 744 for early Feb. I checked on the Thai website and they're not selling any Royal First tickets on that flight so I thought I would give it a shot. Called the Bangkok town office and after some confusion the agent claimed that they were selling the F seats and I could ask UA about upgrades (as if ).

that's of course a nice surprise on such a long flight!
I only had the chance to enjoy this on much shorter flights like BKK SIN, BKK HKG, BKK PEK and domestic flights to CNX or HKT

You may check at time of check-in.

Might try over the phone.
Had a look online in the reservation and 8/9 seats in the first cabin were allocated (not sure if all actually filled). Online system wouldn't let me select the final vacant seat.

Called up the Thai Bangkok reservations line and they were able to select seat 1K. Flight is for my Mum. She has no status and the reservation is a ROP Business Class award booking BKK-MEL-BKK. Flight is in a bit over a week so will see if it sticks.

It now reflects 1K when looking online.
