But you may have to do immigration in PVG, check the China forum for details, some Chinese airports route all passengers through immigration.

The TG website states:
Is the same day policy strictly enforced? I've never had an early departure out of BKK so haven't had to worry but I'm on TG600 and arriving the night before so would like to pop in before checking into the Novotel.
Lounge Access :
• Royal First Class passengers departing the same day on TG operating flight
• Royal First Class passengers departing the same day on TG operating flight

I'm not new to TG but have stumbled on a new question. I booked a UA award ticket - all TG metal - and can't find the PNR. I waited a few days and called the 1K line, they didn't have it and couldn't find it. The TG LAX office is closed so who do I call or how do I contact TG to get my PNR?

I have vague recollections (10years+ ago) of issues getting a TG PNR for award flights (either could"t get one or it was an internal to TG PNR that couldn't be queried)- but have no idea if there are any peculiarities at present.

What type of seats to expect on TG621 777-300 MNL>BKK, Business class, also the return, TG624 BKK>MNL 777-200/300? Lie flats? Or a regional type product? Do you get lounge access in both BKK and MNL also? Thank you

All similar. For 777-300 the J config is 2-3-2 (except the first row at 2-2-2) so I'd usually shoot for a '2'. For the 777-200 the config is 2-2-2.
I usually prefer the E/F centre block as a solo traveller so no-one is clambering over me (or vv) - but for a couple, OTY.
Thai biz rows are 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 (17 on some). I usually prefer 14, 15, 12 in that order as I want less galley noise, and away from the toilets (not a biggie IMHO). In some cabins (777-200ER?), row 16 has no window adjacent to your head position, although there is a window forward - not sure if the 777-200 is the same.
I've also noticed 11 and 12 are 'angled in' slightly as the fuselage narrows at the front. Seat is the same so this small orientation difference probably goes unnoticed, and probably makes the aisle very slightly narrower - although whether this matters or notice is probably very subjective.

First/Business Transit BKK
I am flying Thai First from LHR to NZ and Australia, with a transit stop and airport hotel at BKK each way, but have to downgrade to Business on the BKK AKL leg because they do not run First on NZ flights.
Will I be able to use the First lounge and services before boarding the AKL flight or only the appropriate lounge?

Now that's the rule. But you might negotiate your way in as well by arguing that technically you are still in transit and you had been on F if TG would offer F on this leg. Good luck!

Negotiate, but how?
If you fly out to AKL the same day you arrive in F, you will have access to F lounge. If you fly out one day later, it is J lounge.

with the lounge dragon
actually one trick is (which works only if your luggage is checked through) that you tell the escort, who pick you up from your F flight that you would like to go to F lounge and not to arrival. Then in the F lounge have first a drink and then you tell them that actually you would like to go down town and come back the other morning and you would like to leave some carry on luggage there. Then they will escort you to arrival and then can not refuse you to enter the other morning
