You can get your TG record locator by calling Thai. I also booked via UA and couldn't get the TG locator from UA. As for pre-selecting your meal you don't have to do it but you can do it via TG's website. There are lots of options, I want to say 30+ options.

Yes, you have to get your record locator from Thai Airways...it will be different than the UA one.

You can then go to the following link to pull up your record. There you can see and choose your meal options, and your seats.

http://www.thaiair.com/AWR_PREM/view-trip.jsp

Choosing your meal is optional, obviously. If you do not choose a specific meal, there will be several to pick from on board.

Thanks for all the replies to my questions. Looks like I will contact Thai to get the locator number (s) and then at least book seats. I may not want to select a meal just yet. We'll see what the options are. We fly at 11:30 at night, so not really a time that I want to be eating! I'd rather sleep!

I think seats 2A or 2K are clearly the best seats in F (I flew just BKK-HKG and was in 2A and 1A). I thought 1A had too much of a view of the front stairs and not quite as many windows to look out, and 1k might be too close to the little lounge area (I didn't get to sit there) and row 3 is just with a back to the galley, not sure about noise, odors, etc. (still I'd be row 2, 1, 3 in that order). I will say that I love the old-style 747's F cabins where you can sit in row 2 center seats and look out about 9/10 windows on each side, that is lacking in the new A380 as privacy walls, dividers cut the lateral cross view, and is another reason I thought row 1 "lacked a window or two".

I will say at first I thought the cabin was really sterile and is a stark white leather/wood contrast to the C cabin fully done in the traditional Thai colors, but came to the conclusion that it is very classy and well-done. It isn't gaudy like the Emirates F product, but it is comfortable. I liked the way the tray pulled toward you, and am very curious about the "mood light", what it is supposed to do and if the overall conclusion will be a "waste of space" or it should be a video control system. The headphones are in a very awkward place to plug in. No automatic windows like in Emirates. No door on the "suite" but a useful, if narrow individual hanging closet. The seat controls were fine, I was only short-haul, so not sure if they also offer a mattress pad, though I did sleep a bit and didn't once think the seat was anything but comfortable.

The food was excellent, I pre-ordered and had fun with that -- I'm sure there are tons of choices on board, but you can order "special" items as flight had different choices. I had the oven roasted lamb rack and then the lobster thermador, both very good, and hot. Great free-flow on the Dom and they had a few other great wine choices. Great agent escort through terminals, never have to really think about where you are going. Only similar complaint to some earlier comments is the immigration arrival in BKK, so you get golf-carted to the immigration fast track but you are with the full F cabin and anyone ahead of you (no C's could manage to arrive ahead of you) so I think I had to wait for 6 people to clear, no big deal, but glancing over at the "Y" immigration desks only 2 or 3 people in each line. I couldn't be bothered to walk over, but had it been a longer wait I would have done it. Other thing was since I was short haul I didn't get a kit, and they had pathetic "offerings" if I wanted to brush my teeth and no razors/shaving gel to speak of (sharp contrast to Emirates) as the FA told me that it was banned on Thai since 9/11 (not sure if true). The FA's okay, not really F quality, kind of a rag-tag bunch to be honest, yet friendly enough, must have been a training run.

Cheers, Powers

Ooops. Sorry, you are correct. I was thinking of LH. The link provides meal choice only, not seat assignment.

Appears you will have to either call or email the request for seats.

It is all subjective to personal taste.

On the 380 I would avoid Row 1. Reason being 1A is behind the main lavatory creating the most passenger traffic. 1K is behind the common lounge area and cold be busy/noisy if people decide to use it.

Row 2, Nothing wrong with row 2 but ,y personal preference is not be be wedged between seats having seats in front and behind you.

Row 3, 3K I would avoid as there is a lavatory behind you. 3A only has a cabinet behind you and I was not bothered by noise while seated in 3A. No passenger traffic as well, only the crew passes by.

2a, 3a, probably both good in that order, but you basically repeated what I said about row 1 is to be avoided. Out of 4 seats taken on my flight BKK-HKG was 2a, 3a, 2k, 3k, on the way back all filled except 1D (first row middle left). Still, nice seats....

What is the first class amenities kit on the A380 long haul now? (BKK-FRA on the overnight flight) I was on the 3-class 777 and got a Tumi bag. Hoping to get Rimowa on the A380.

I now have the locator numbers but there is no option to select seats! Only meals. Any idea how to select seats? Or maybe they are all spoken for, and there are no choices left???

You can't select seats online...you can only do this at the time of booking.

If you have an Amadeus record locator (UA?) you might be able to do it at lot.com - this works for all my LifeMiles bookings on TG.

I got the impression from other posts that I could select seat and meal. I've done the meal, but not seat assignments. I have read somewhere that I can do it at a Thai office...? I may just hop on the airport link and go out to BKK first class check in area and get it done! Or at least I'll know if all seats are already assigned and there are no choices left.

I looked at lot.com but not sure where to input UA record locator. I'll take a second look before hopping on the BTS, in any case.

When I was taking the FRA-BKK inaugural flight on the 16th of December they gave the Rimowa bag. a week before BKK-FRA on new 747 they gave TUMI.
