Shortly after its “Like” button began to produce data about what best “engaged” its users, Facebook developed algorithms to bring each user the content most likely to generate a “like” or some other interaction, eventually including the “share” as well. Later research showed that posts that trigger emotions––especially anger at out-groups––are the most likely to be shared.

Would you mind if some technically qualified FTers take a look at a sanitized version of the code? I know it's a simple issue related to retrieval from the db because it's literally printing the error message as the variable string stating the variable is undefined. There's only a few scenarios where this would happen and these just have to be mapped out and then searched for in the relevant code.

but just from how it manifests, if I had to bet, my money would be on somewhere in the frontend/JS code, not the db retrieval layer.

It could be there too as the sql and html code are generated by the php that's behind it all. It would be good if they would let some of us look under the hood. I've had to mess with my own vb3 based site before and it's just a matter of taking the time to follow all the code...

I do want everyone to know that we are pursuing an update to the "Post Thanks" product that we attempted to launch in October. Specifically *I* am pursuing it with/because of everyone's feedback here. My idea is to essentially blend what we have now, where everything is in one window, with what every other site has. Sometimes the main tech team pursues stuff in a way where I'm just like, what were you thinking? In particular I think they overvalue the mobile side (which don't get me wrong, does have a lot of value). But getting the whole machine to see our side and actually get moving can be arduous.

When trying to "like" posts these past few days I've been scoring around 60% ARG:4, 20% ARG:6 and 20% IMH.
Last edited by IMH; Jul 10, 2022 at 12:23 am Reason: corrected second ARG:4 to ARG:6
