Use of Like feature resulting in “[ARG:4 UNDEFINED]”

I found an old closed thread of the same name but nothing recent. Just liked a post and…

using safari on ipad, liked other threads with no issue

The "The 13 Oct 21 FT 'Like' Feature - [now restored to prior version]" thread

IB admins have confirmed that the problem exists but they do not intend to invest time and effort to fix it because...

1. The like feature on Flyertalk is unique to this site (when compared to other IB forums) due to historical reasons.
2. The FT like feature is therefore existing technical debt when considered against the other forums IB run and maintain, and making a change to fix this is considered in software engineering terms further debt and hence a poor investment.
3. The bug that causes ARG: and then 4 or 6 to be displayed is visible only to the Liker, no one else sees it.
4. The bug is therefore cosmetic and has no impact to actual functionality, likes are still dispensed, even if likers are left wondering if they need to have an argument with themselves.

I find it a pain to open a thread expecting new content and the only new posts are non-contributory "Thanks" or "thumbs-up" or similar.

That is indeed the case in some scenarios, but there are also threads in which I am completely unable to "like" posts -- the button doesn't do anything.

I haven't been able to work out what the defining characteristics of those threads are, but it seems most likely to affect hotel "review" threads and/or threads in which I have posted.

Sometimes when I cannot like a post, it is when I have scrolled up or down to different pages (automatically, not clicking <Prev or Next> buttons).
