The 179pd rate appears to be available in early January and on weekends - at least the dates I tested having seen your post. But the weeknight I am there is the higher rate. So I'm happy to use my AMEX SPG50 cert and get the rate down.

You have to call to inquire about SPG50 availability anyway, so you might as well call.

$100/Night?

Just curious.....has anyone been able to get a rate in the $100/night range in the U.S. recently, using an SPG 50? And a related question....have rack rates been falling?

This weekend at the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North, the rate is $97.50.
Same dates at the Four Points by Sheraton Savannah Airport, the rate is $105.

And a related question....have rack rates been falling?
Wouldn't have a clue about that.

Thanks....but how about a city center hotel to make more use of the SPG50 on a two- or three-night stay?

Airport 4 Points can often be gotten for $100 or less without the SPG 50...e.g. PHL for $90 recently.

It might help narrow the search somewhat if I knew which city center you were interested in.

But, the Four Points by Sheraton Houston Southwest, which is the closest hotel to Houston's city center, is $112 for this weekend.

Are these still coming free with SPG AMEX cards?

I used to get one per year, but didn't notice anything this year.

Question expiration?

if it says it expires June 30th 2009 - does that mean i have to book and stay by then - or only book by then?

Thanks!

Sheraton Park Lane London

My vote goes for the Sheraton Park Lane in London. Used my SPG50 cert and got a studio suite for a rate of GBP 205 (excluding VAT) this past week. Thought it was an excellent use of the cert since standard rooms were 189 prepaid during my stay. The studio suite is actually a true suite with separate bedroom and living room (I thought it would be more like a junior suite with just one room sectioned off into two areas). Large LCD TVs in each room and nice, high ceilings. The bedroom alone is quite large by London standards. Upgraded to a park view ... since I was on a lower floor it wasn't that impressive but much better than overlooking a light shaft or brick wall.
