Yes. It's called double dipping.

You even get 2500 HH points as an extra bonus when you do it for the first time.

Perhaps you should consider to post in the SAS or Hilton forums. There you will find the answers you are looking for by using the search function.

Renting Sixt from Oslo airport

Need to book a car for a week in september from Oslo airport. Looking for rates and found that internet rates are at least 10 % cheaper then rates with minus 35 % as EBG and Sixt Platinum. So does anybody know, what are better changes to get a free upgrade, if at all.
Regards

I have no experience with renting from Sixt in Norway, but at least at German stations it doesnt' seem to make a difference upgrade-wise whether you book at "normal" internet rates or at the Sixt Plat rate. Just make sure that you enter your Plat card number into the booking (which you can also do when booking at "normal" rates).

Tried search and I also tried figuring it out on the webpage myself, but I'm completely new to rental cars and was not capable. Plus it seems the Sixt Plat card is unknown to the Sixt website:

How do I make a booking using my Sixt Plat, hence seeing the 35% discount? Plus I don't know how to distinguish between a "holiday rate", a "discountable rate" and potential other rates. When I type in my location and dates, it gives back a flexible and an early booking rate and that is the only differentiation.

Any help/explanation would be greatly appreciated. Also a point a more appropriate thread where to post this. I must shamefully admit that I did not yet read thru the entire thread as I didn't have time yet. I will however within the next few days, so if somebody knows the answers are in this thread, just point it out.

Thanks.

differences in rental car tariffs

dicountable: in general only the standard tariffs published in written at the local office... these are like the rack rates in hotel.

the difference between holiday, early booking etc. rates and flexible is that only the later can be cancelled, rebooked without any fee.

to book your plat card rates, they need to be stored in your online profile by sixt. after login you see your company/status card rates. ask cs if you have still problems with that

Apologies for asking a few questions at once but after going through the 14 pages in this thread I'm still not completely sure I'm "optimizing" my upcoming rental. I used to be quite familiar with renting cars from Europcar or Sixt clocking something like 30-40 rentals a year with Sixt in 2002-2004. However, after moving to SIN (Singapore) I'm only a sporadic user of Sixt services and only rent when visiting good 'ol Germany.

I have a Sixt Plat card (through my company where everyone gets one though I'm also SEN) and recently changed the address in my online profile from Germany to Singapore to reflect the current residence. I also have a LH SEN Visa credit card for the insurance (registered to my German address ).

I'm renting from a Thursday, 12:00pm to Monday, 09:00am at the Internet weekend rate excl. insurance and am quoted EUR 100,66 including the service charge of EUR 16,06 and VAT for a ILMR (VW Passat) for pick up at at LEJ (Leipzig Airport). Not bad in my opinion as it is for 4 days and I think you guys discussed that rates increased in 2007 and the days of 77 EUR LDAR rates (for Fri, 12:00pm to Mon, 9:00am) are gone. Mileage credit will go to LH and I'm planning to double dip with HHonors.

Now my questions. Is the rate good or should I try different things? I have tried to double dip with HHonors before but never gotten any credit nor claimed it with Hilton so would I still qualify for the first time 2.5K HH credit? I entered the number into the reservation in the way ulev described it so hope it will work this time. Last but not least, with my address now being in Singapore is there still the promo to get 2K LH miles when renting abroad (in Germany in this case) or is that just for US residents?

Your insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cheers...

I think the rate is very good. Doesn't seem to be the LH rate, rather your company rate linked with your PLAT card.

Should work, even with the 2500.

Sorry, that promotion is sadly gone since August. While it was there it worked for any cross border rental anywhere. I am still hoping it will come back, as one year ago they also took a break of 1-2 months. However, Sixt is just the most unpredictable player in that market. So you never know.

For some very strange reason the internet rates at LEJ are ridiculously low. to get a 3series FMDR for 69e plus service charge for a normal weekend is completely impossible on any rate I know, be it Journalist rate, Sentor or HON or the Sixt Amex gold tariff.

Does anyone have an explanation for that?

you can even get the 3series for a long weekend for the same 69 EUR. Not bad at all.
