When does Gold card discount apply?
I reserved a car by Sixt but when I asked for the Gold card discount, was told it didn't apply. When I asked why, was given no explanation other than that it didn't apply. When does it apply and when doesn't it? This hire was near Christmas (Dec. 21-24) -- would that have been the reason?

Just to add: Sometimes the Gold discount (25% off the regular price) isn't the best deal anyway. But if you want to rent using the Gold or whatever discount you must say this in advance e.g. mention that you what to rent via Gold card or say that you'd like to use this and that CDP.

I always log-in with my Platinum Card ... it says 35% discount. The prices I get are comparable to Sixtis. I never did a booking without mentioning Platinum, but I am going to try it in the next couple of days.
What is this? say that you'd like to use this and that CDP Are there any CPD codes out there? If yes, I would like to know them..

I have to be more precise in my posts in the future. So sorry for confusing you.
But to answer you question: Yes! All internet and other special rates are not discountable! But this only means you can't get a discount for the "best deals" offers and for the prices that are displayed, when you don't log in first but just do your booking via internet. The "normal" internet rates (if you do not log in with any card) are still discounted compared to the standard rates that you get when you book via phone without using any code. That's why this "normal" internet rates are sometimes cheaper than the 35% off from the Plat Card and much more often cheaper than the 25% off from the Gold Card. If you log in, your Plat Card internet rate is a discounted rate for sure!
Regarding CDP, I don't know any way to enter it when you book online like it works with Hertz or Europcar. But they have such codes and this codes are disposit at your Sixt card. That's why some people get 30% off with there Plat card (e.g. FB Gold) some 35% (e.g. LH SEN) and others 40% (e.g FB Plat.). It's not the card itself that gives you the discount but the code that is linked in the database. At least this is what I always thought and some Sixt stuff told me. I may be wrong in this case, so please correct/advice me if you think so.

So I am not missing something regarding CDP codes!
Anyway, I always check two or three rental companies for the best rates.
In the US I often end up with National (Emerald).
In Europe with Sixt or Avis (with some nice AWDs

This is correct...we have two Platinum cards in the family, one from LH SEN and one from renting a lot with Sixt, and the rate code that is displayed when you log in is different for each. Also confirmed by Sixt head office.

I can confirm that the 20% dicsount of the Happy Digits offer is often cheaper than my Platinum card's Corporate Rate. At least for short-term rentals that are less than a month. I guess the 20% of Happy Digits apply to the standard online rate, which is by itself discounted against the standard call-center rate.
