Hello everyone... It has been some time since my last SAS flight. Is the upgrade bidding easier from Y to C or from PE to C? Fare is $1200 in Y and $2000 in PE from SFO-CPH (actual prices). If the upgrade from Y to C is $800 bid and PE to C is $400 (sample prices), will PE clear first or Y clear first being that it's more? Thanks.

I was pretty underwhelmed by PE service in May and would never personally consider paying 2k for it…

Now I'm trying to keep my eye on fare sales far in advance (although we usually don't book trips until a few months out) and hoping to be able to purchase C outright at a decent price. Not sure when the best time is to purchase for next May. EDITED TO ADD: I found the PE service to be acceptable, albeit pricey. Certainly better seats, IFE screens and food than main cabin. And I appreciated the lounge access and FastTrack access (although by the time I was departing CPH, I would have these via my successful bid to C). |
Maybe this depends on the aircraft, but our A321 had exactly the same meal service as regular economy with no dedicated flight crew. I was dumbfounded that I couldn't even get the Ringi apple juice, as this was apparently only available to business class. Free alcohol but no free juice? Juice that's offered in SAS Plus on one-hour European flights?
We paid $666 for PE in May booked in early January to go to Athens through CPH…which was a no-brainer. I guess I can't imagine spending $2k/ticket on any itinerary at all. |

SK does not have dedicated crews for Plus, on widebodies meals are also served from the back. Though extra snacks and drinks come from the front. Not sure if Ringi is supposed to be a Plus drink on long haul. If I remember correctly, it is poured from large bottles in long haul J, which may be why they don't want to bring it to Plus? Not that it is a logical argument, but I could see it being made.... |
Does anyone know if upgrade bids available on tickets that are booked with points through Star Alliance partners? I'm looking at a one way flight from SFO -> CPH that has an economy fare of about $2500 for economy or $3500 for premium economy. Through Singapore Airlines, economy can be booked for only 30,500 miles. I'm wondering if it's possible to book with the miles and then bid for an upgrade. I can't find any details on this in the SAS terms and conditions either way...

You should try pricing out a roundtrip ticket. Many times a roundtrip is cheaper than a one way.

Seat Map
Hi, how do you see teh seat map and available seats because when I login to mysas it does not give that option. I have booked EWR-ARN in August and was looking at the bidding process.

Someone posted in another thread that the online seat map is gone from long haul at the moment, but they could call in to get a seat assigned. You can use expertflyer to see which seats are picked already.

IAD-CPH 24JUL, Minimum upgrade was $700 for months so I didn't even bother but it dropped to $300 a few weeks ago. Put in a bid at $351 from PE and got it. Booking class A. May shoot my shot and see if I can get into the Turkish lounge, otherwise I'll work on getting my money's worth during. Minimum bid CPH-IAD is $500 and that's not worth it.
