Does online checkin affect bidding? Should one wait until after the 6 hours before departure to check in online?
|
Minimum bid bumped up to $840. Bummer.

I don’t think so. I’ve bid three times three times for upgrades. Both times I got it, I was notified at check in 24 hours before. The time I did not get it I got an email 6 hours out. I don’t think checking in matters as they will update your boarding pass automatically if you get it. I also know some people got their confirmation 6 hours ahead of flight. I don’t think checking in affects anything. |
What are the chances the minimum bid will go back down in coming weeks?
We are 1 month, 3 days out from the flight, and there are currently 17 open business seats. It was a $500 minimum bid, but this week it jumped up to $840. I will say that the business fare price has also increased as well, so I don't know if the increases coincide with each other. I have read that bid prices can fluctuate a bit, but ultimately I would expect the minimum bid to come down. Am I thinking right? |

15 days until departure. The current min bid is $840. Currently, there are 12 business seats left. What would you recommend my bid be? Should I wait until next week to make a bid or do it today? Welcoming all advice. I hear some people go with the min bid and get the upgrade and sometimes other say to go above. This is a Dulles to CPH flight.

I checked in and then 6 hours before the flight got a notification that my bid to bus was accepted so I don't think checking in impacts your bid at all

I'm about 40 days out from a short trip SK927 CPH-BOS / SK928 BOS-CPH booked by my employer in Economy (Q).
I've been checking upgrade bin minimums daily for about a week, and will try to continue if time allows. On both outbound and inbound, the minimum bid from Economy to Plus has been static at 2,500SEK or 14,000 points; Economy to Business is static 7,000SEK or 37,000 points. However, for just one day 46 days before departure, the minimum bids to upgrade the inbound overnight flight dropped: Economy to Plus dropped to 1,500SEK or 13,000 points while Economy to Business dropped to 4,200SEK or 33,000 points. They reverted to the higher minimums the next day. |
ARN-ORD Business Seat Map
Hey all,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this, but I’m tracking SK945 from ARN-ORD on 9/9, and the current seat map on ExpertFlyer looks like this for J. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6b6f0eccaa.png If I try to straight up purchase a J seat for this flight, the website says 5 seats available. Anyone know what the blocked seats indicate? I noticed they only became blocked in the last few days (about 72 hours before departure). Trying to gauge how likely a bid would be accepted…it’s been at $500 USD minimum for the last few weeks. Thanks all! |
28 days out, down to 14 seats available.
The min. bid did drop a bit, to $760. Would you say that at this point, 30 days out, 14 available seats is a normal amount? High? Low? I am sure there is no "normal," because every flight is different. |
The only advise I can offer is to wait it out. As you read through this thread, minimum offers are usually high numerous days after departure, but one you are getting closer to departure time there is an adjustment. If you feel comfortable with this # for minimum bid, go ahead and bid, since it can always be adjusted latter. Regardless of when you bid, you wont know if succesful until 24hrs prior departure.

The minimum bids I encounter for my bookings on IAD-CPH are substantially higher than for my bookings’ ORD departures to CPH and ARN. But my perspective is skewed heavily toward bookings made sub-36 hours prior to flight departure times and looking at economy class to business class upgrades.
|
So my SFO CPH minimum bid $300 and me bidding at $655 was a fail. Probably because the flight appeared to be completely sold out at check in but they were still selling at least 1 business class seat 6 hours before departure.
