I’m curious to know if they consider the price paid of the original ticket as well. Like if person has paid next to nothing for an eco ticket looking to upgrade for the minimum to full business. I would think in that case it may be difficult to protect the perceived value integrity of the cost, no?

I doubt it. I've won minimum bid (in points) from Plus to business on a cheap A-class ticket.

My working assumption (a hunch not a proven scientific speculation) is that one needs to bid 20% over minimum to be in with a chance, irrespective of how many seats are shown as free.

Thanks for the reply....and I get that.

And I would understand 20% more on $400 or $500 minimum bids. When the bids are priced low, it makes perfect sense to expect people to overbid. That's the name of the game.

But, when the minimum bid is so high, and I think $760 is kind of high for a Chicago flight, considering I have seen LAX flights for much less....it seems kind of crazy to expect people to overbid.

You’re right. That is higher than it has been. Mine is too but it’s a while out yet. 3 months but where I’ve seen them drop a little three months out, they haven’t. Maybe they are trying to bring the prices up but personally I don’t think the product is worth it in this instance. Not 800 or 1100 one way on an east coast flight.

Yeah it is just so very strange.

It makes me wonder....I know common wisdom is that bidding for an upgrade is usually less than what it would be if you upgraded at the airport. But, at this point, I actually wonder if you tried to book at the airport what it would be.

Back in May it was $599 to upgrade at the airport from plus to business from ORD-CPH.

QUOTE=SkOrdBgo;35231757]US$325 accepted for plus to business ORD-CPH. Cleared t-24 h. According to gate agent the standard charges for plus to business is 35k EB points or $599.[/QUOTE]

Thanks! That is somewhat helpful.

Except this flight does not have a Plus Section. Only Economy and Business.

Dear All,
I was wondering if anyone on the Forum could share their experiences with upgrades within Europe. Are SK inclined to accepting minimum bids within Europe? I am in a situation where the upgrade on CPH-AMS would be helpful although the flight is extremely short.
Thank you in advance.

For the ones where I have submitted a bid, I have entered minium or 1 euro above minimum, and they have been accepted. Including the Monday morning flight Copenhagen to Heathrow.

Hello again! This may, or may not, be my last update. I am currently 7 days out from my flight.

There are still 11 business seats open. The bid is still sitting at a $760 minimum. I am just kind of flummoxed at this point.

Considering the number of seats, if it comes down to 3 days, 2 days to go...how far do you think minimum bid would get me? My intention was always to overbid like most here would recommend.

Would SAS really turn down a minimum bid offer, if there aren't 10 other bids higher?

It would be really helpful and appreciated if you would come back and tell us the outcome of everything. For example what was the bid minimum two days out with how many open seats. Also if you know what the bid was at the airport and finally if you did get an upgrade and for how much. Thanks and have a great trip.

Oh for sure...I will definitely fill everyone in on how things go down.

ORD-ARN from Plus to Business. Minimum bid was $300. I bid $451. Failed.

Thanks. Definitely seems like it’s tightening up. Do you know if business flew out full?

I don't know. Sorry.
