I inquired at the transfer desk at CPH and was offered Y to C for $569 USD. I accepted.

Flight went out with at least two empty seats in C, including one next to me.

Mileage ticket, ORD - CPH, when I checked in was offered bid of $170 to upgrade to PE, felt it was a decent price.

Minimum bid of $300 accepted to go from Plus to Biz on CPH-JFK. There are still 12 open seats in the biz cabin so I think I may have been the only one to bid. Plus is basically empty as well

Traveling on one of those SK JFK-DUB/LHR deals in PE...ensured my UA Gold for 2024. I was not aware of any type of upgrade bid process departing NYC. I only learned about this via FT.

Bid $350 96 hours prior DUB-CPH-JFK to upgrade CPH-JFK. Bid accepted almost exactly 72 hours later (24 hours prior to start) for upgrade to J for CPH-JFK. Looking forward to the flight today!

Assume you mean former into PE? Or did you bid first for PE, then a second bid for C?

I edited to make it more clear. Anyhow, it was one bid from PE->J.

Hi, all. Found this forum after my wife received our upgrade bid email for this Saturday, BOS-CPH. This is my first experience with an airline’s bidding system, and I gotta say, it’s kind of intoxicating.

The current bid on our A321 neo is $460 USD. We’ve never done this. How far over the minimum should we go? Based on a scan of this thread, you guys have way more intel on how this works than I do.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert. First I bid $300 in my case (the minimum was $270 or something) and I got a 'low bid' or 'low side' message. I went ahead and went to $350, received a 'medium bid' message, but was ultimately successful (see my original post).

My flight last night was about 2/3-3/4 full in J. Obviously don't know how many were the result of buyups. My point is that if there are only a few seats available for sale, the higher the bid, the better. YMMV.

Was it worth it in general? At this point, I've spent a lot of money and a lot of miles for being able to be in J for TATL flights. I'm not doing that anymore for east bound flights. I find PE acceptable, for UA, LH, and now SK, as even if I chose not to drink/eat, etc., I am still bothered by the activity around me, whether in Y, PE, J, or even F. Therefore having a lay flat does me little good in terms of getring rest. But west bound, absolutely worth it for the suite; not so much for sleep, but the better soft experience and the privacy and space for accomplishing some work.

Was it worth it last night? Yes and later this month I am going to do a trip report. This was my first flight in SK in J. The soft product was fantastic and the hard product was adequate (in that I am average sized and I'm not one to compare footwells and seat widths). I would put the soft product against any of the other *A airlines. That said, I had the impression that SK A330s were equipped with Internet, but this one was not. I am now sad that SK is leaving *A.

CPH SFO experience.
Y+ bid was $700 minimum but dropped to $300 closer to departure.

bid $701 on both Y+ tickets when it was $700.
changed one Y+ to $350 when it dropped to $300.

$701 was accepted at 25 hours on the dot.
$350 was accepted 3-4 hours before the SFO departure (but after checked in baggage and receiving boarding passes for Y+ at the originating airport connecting in CPH) while still at the originating airport.

flight went out with 3 or 4 C seats open and Y+ was maybe 10 seats occupied total, and Y everyone had a row to themselves.

average $525 to upgrade, I can live with that :p

It’s unbelievable to me how empty these giant planes are flying between CPH and the US

I need BOS>CPH empty on Saturday! For a former (enthusiastic) poker player, this is way too exciting.

Now.. this is interesting... my flight is in 8 days... I went into my bookings to try and bid (I saw the bid upgrade last week) and now i apparently can't bid anymore. I chatted with their Customer Service team and the response was: "On the website it does not show the bidding button, so please do the upgrade at the airport.I have checked by myself on the website, and it is not available yet for a bidding."... i couldn't get an answer on why....
any idea guys???

ps: expert flyer shows a bunch of open seats both in premium economy and in business...

Hi Everybody,

first post here, just super new, so please excuse if I have some stupid questions.
I have to fly to Tokyo from CPH in January for work related reasons and I am now considering whether I book ANA or SAS. Unfortunately, we have to fly Economy, which sucks... But as I am Eurobonus gold, I was thinking to book SAS and just upgrade myself for the flights. I have never done the bidding system though and might have a few stupid questions:

a) If my understanding is correct I can either bid points or cash. So, I can only bid points if I want to and no cash, right? Or will this crush my chances?
b) You guys got any estimations what a reasonable bid for Economy -> Business is per flight? I am actually considering whether I have even enough points :D

Thanks a lot!

If there’s lots of J availability, I would bid 30-50 over the minimum bid. If the minimum drops closer to departure, adjust accordingly.
