Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Haha, I'm aware that anyone over 5'6" wouldn't have a difficult time peering in if they wanted to but the simple ability to just close a door and feel 'away' is all I need. Haven't flown in any suite-like products before so perhaps the novelty is just very, very fresh.

And not to worry, the only naughty business I'd be getting down to in there is a little game of hide the champagne.

Or more to the point, than QR is able to I start rejoicing about an equipment about 2 weeks before the flight. Earlier than that is a recipe for disillusionment.

I see Q Suite configuration on my ORD-DOH and DOH-ORD legs on ExpertFlyer for travel in October. Has receiving the actual Q Suite product been fairly consistent on these legs? Barring any last minute aircraft changes which from this thread doesn't seem to be happening tooooo much.

I need to fly back from BOM to DFW but am willing to fly to either ORD or IAH and buy a separate ticket to DFW if it means flying in the QSuite. Right now BOM-DOH-ORD shows QSuite the entire way for March of 2019. I know that nothing is even close to certain this far out, but IAH isn't showing QSuite that far into the schedule and DFW has been announced but no firm plans yet.

What's my best bet of the three? Obviously not DFW, but if there is a decent chance of that launching in time I'd be willing to take the risk.

Thanks!
As a data point, I just called in to ask for EF seats across two PNR and the agent was able to change the seats. I called the Hong Kong line in English which actually routed over to an agent in Chongqing.

QR will not notify you, but you can subscribe to ExpertFlyer and set an equipment change alert for the flight. (I also set schedule change alerts.)

Well, you could try for flight deck jump seats .

EF will notify you if there is an aircraft type change. But not if your 77W (or A350) changes from Qsuites to old seats or vice versa.

I certainly didn't expect to get notified, but I received an email sent via amadeus which included the following message. The last leg had changed to the A351 with Qsuites. Maybe it was primarily sent due to the change in terminal?

DEAR ,
PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT EFFECTIVE FROM 28OCT18 ALL
QATAR FLIGHTS WILL OPERATE FROM TERMINAL 1 AT CHANGI
AIRPPORT, THEREFORE QR947 AND QR946 WILL DEPART FROM
AND ARRIVE INTO TERMINAL 1. PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT
YOUR PRE-BOOKED SEAT ON QR946 HAS RE-ASSIGNED TO 3A
DUE TO SEAT CONFIG CHANGED

Actually, EF will notify you. The aircraft type may not change, but if the seatmap/configuration does, it seems to trigger the alert as well. I just had that happen on IAD-DOH in Nov which was always listed as 77W, but had the old 2-2-2 seatmap until a week or so ago when it was updated to reflect QSuites.

I would imagine that it has something to do with the Terminal change.

To add to that, I am surprised they are moving to Terminal 1. No complaints though, all Changi Terminals are great, and the first three are connected airside, sooo..... Better access to the QF and BA lounges too! I wonder if they will assign one of those as the primary lounge and keep them open for the 10 am QR flight.

When EF first implemented aircraft change alerts, this was true. But feedback from subscribers led EF to add seat configuration changes to the aircraft change alert. This has been the case for s few years now, IIRC. Have you had a situation within the past couple of years where you had set an aircraft change alert that did not trigger due to seat map changes?

Exactly. I've had BA flights repeatedly trigger the alert for months even though the aircraft remained the same (I was booked in J, which never seemed to change, but presumably down the back changed).
