Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Not quite following. They already have the 380 running DOH-SYD, I'm on it next March. On the 77I on the outbound leg - hoping for a 77P swap-out, but doubt I'll get that lucky

It was an [apparently unsuccessful] attempt at humor. tav1989 posted:

"Aus" is the city code for Austin, Texas. So I replied,

It is really a shame. How come A380 is not coming to those presumably larger ports in Asia e.g. Singapore Hong Kong Shanghai Beijing etc but to Bangkok and Guangzhou? The former 2 are still serve by A350 or 787 only whereas the latter 2 get 77W at least.

Dr. HFH as tav1989 correctly states Aus is an accepted and acceptable abbreviation for Australia. AUS is the IATA code for Austin. There is a big difference!
The third Aus destination is to get A380 aircraft according to postings on this thread so Qsuites are ruled out until the aircraft type changes to a Qsuites fitted aircraft or the A380s are retrofitted.

If they deploy the 380 on PER route, what sort of notice do they give?

I guess they would want to start selling F ?

Just noticed rather annoyingly that QR7 on the 18th January is not showing as Q-Suites (which I've unfortunately just booked!), anyone have any idea why? Will probably cancel.

lost_in_translation two possible reasons are

1) JFK starts with one daily Qsuite rotation 16 December and the second Qsuites daily flight to LHR has to be cancelled in order to serve JFK.
2) Regular maintenance of that particular Qsuites aircraft is scheduled that day and there is no spare Qsuites aircraft to replace it.

What is your actual date of travel?

There are few individual dates in December where the QSuite flight numbers change, so specifics would help to prevent any mis-information.

We are booked on the 20th Dec LHR-DOH-HKT. Original we were flying on A350, then it changed to Q-Suites which was nice as there are four of us on the flight. Just been notified today that it has changed again to a non Q-Suites 777. I know QR chops and changes but feel a bit miffed.....any chance we could switch onto an earlier flight to escape a double hop on the old format 777?

bagman55 yes if the fare rules of your reservation permit changes, if you are prepared to pay the change fees and since you have not taken the first flight of the reservation (?) repricing of the tickets as well as there being seats available on the earlier flight. Look at the fare rules for your reservation because some reservations do not permit changes!

If you are four of you, the "old" 777 is perfectly fine. The seats are very spacious and take the same space as the new seats. Not great for a solo pax, but excellent for 2x2 pax.
