Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

These are all the roundtrip flights of the 777 configured in the older 2-2-2 configuration for the last week.

Since there are only 3 A359 Qsuite aircrafts that are yet to be "repaired," all these destinations will have to remain with older style 777s for the time being, unless QR speeds up delivery of the remaining A350s.

Not sure if it was a pricing thing but you would be much better off flying from NY as qsuites is way more regular. If you notice a change, you could call and ask to be moved to a JFK flight. No guarantees they let you but there has been varying success (500miles is the apparent limit)

It is an award and there is no availability on flights out of NYC. Also is well over 500 miles between atlanta and nyc so that is out. I don't know what the chance of something opening up out of NYC close in is.

The single seats along the side are all "window" seats. The odd numbered seats are rear facing and you're seated right next to the window, with a shelf and a little jump seat type thing between you and suite door and the aisle. The even numbered seats are forward facing with your seat next to the suite door, and the shelf and the jump seat thing between you and the window. I have always booked the former but I sat in the latter on my last flight and it was fine. Because of the suite door there is no real loss of privacy and I found I was able to slide over onto the jump seat to get a better look out the window when I wanted.

The AA widebodies to Hawaii are a huge step up form regular domestic first class. No, you will not mistake the service for QR but it's quite good.

You can only pre-order special meals like diabetic and Asian vegetarian. You cannot pre-order from the regular menu like you can with AA, for example. Your first hint of what is on offer will be when they hand you the menu card onboard.

Possibly things have changed but just this past summer I was able to select my entree from the “main meal” in advance. It was DOH-LAX so maybe on longer routes they offer it?

I think they only offer it FROM Doha, but not TO Doha. Confused me too.

Ex DOH on shorter routes too. I pre-selected on DOH-BKK a couple of weeks ago. Only appears on website or app about a week in advance of flying.

Q-suite swap

Happened to us today… flight QR777 (DOH-MIA). Supposed to be Qsuite; check-in did not work the whole day yesterday and provided error. Then at 4am in the morning QR changed our 777-300 from Qsuite to old 2-2-2 configuration. We were really upset, decided to change our flight date to tomorrow, 15/01/23. Really hope no changes again 😩😩😩 there was a chart showing chances of Qsuite for American routes per month, could someone share it with me please 🙏 thanks

USB Ports

Hi...flying QSuites on both the A350-1000 and 777-300 next month and just wondering if the USB port at the seat will allow me to plug in both USB-A and USB-C cables? Thanks.

There is no USB-C outlets, but you do have electricity ones and normal USB ones, (I'm not sure what they're called)

Adding to this correct response; I use a USB-C multiport adaptor on these flights; 2 usb and 2 usb c. Works great to power laptop, iphone and ipad at the same time.

Checking in to my Q-suite (A359) flight recently, I was already assigned an A window seat some rows back, but was asked at checkin if I wanted seat 1A instead. The checkin agent "persuaded" me to take it "because it's a nice seat". So I did.

Now I notice on Aerolopa that there's actually a curvature at the front fusilage, which resulted in slightly reduced space for 1A as compared to other A rows. Wonder why they'd block this seat (according to this thread's wiki) to be assigned at the airport. In my view it's actually slightly "inferior" due to the reduced space, although it didn't really impact my enjoyment of the flight.
