Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Got the dreaded swap from QSuites and called up QR. Two different agents said you can’t change the origin nor destination, both after a few minutes of hold time to check their rules - only date change.
Has there been further changes to this policy since QR Support on Twitter’s post in 2019?

First paid business class ticket in my life, picked Qsuites over other airline options and got 25 hours before departure the email that the configuration changed to 2-2-2. They offered to change the flight, but that doesnt do me any good as I need to be at my destination on that day. Quite the bait and switch they are pulling.

QR has 12 777 with 2-2-2 (vs 45 777 with Qsuites) and if you go look at random flights on routes these aircraft typically fly you will see that they are shown on the seat maps as 2-2-2. For every unplanned change from a Qsuite to a 2-2-2 config, there is likely another change somewhere else from a 2-2-2 to Qsuite aircraft to make up for the aircraft rotation, you understandably will see much more online reports of the former than the latter because for most one is a downgrade and the other is an upgrade.

Some routes (Looking at you Chicago) have a lot more downgrades than places like JFK and DFW.

Totally sucks. IAD is one of the highest % of keeping QSuites.
It is pretty obvious to me this is all intention by Qatar. i.e. They know they need X QSuite planes for the USA-DOH route. They promote all USA routes as QSuite routes, knowing they only have X-Y QSuite planes. So they know next week, they are going to downgrade Z flights. Every. Week. It is intentional. Let's face it. If they said ORD was 100% not going to have QSuites, people would avoid ORD. So they lie and promise QSuites everywhere, knowing they are going to screw people on Z flights. Every. Week.

So there is no real recourse for me, I presume? They won't offer any compensation for the downgrade, no "sorry, here is a coupon for your next flight" or lounge vouchers or miles. They also weren't able to let me print a boarding pass, all I got was a confirmation pass. No big deal but still different.

Hi all,
Had booked 4 seats on AMS-DOH-MLE - with the Male segment in F.
Received a message that AMS-DOHA is no longer offering QSuite, as it is a special birthday for mum - I thought why not see what is possible..
- Asked to re-booked (AMS-DOHA) the day before, spend the day-ish in Doha and connect onto our F flight to Male... this was not possible as it would mean more than 24 hours in Doha.
- Asked to re-booked (AMS-DOH-MLE) the day before...no F available from DOH-MLE...
- Asked to re-booked from London.... not possible to depart from another city
Can I check with the folks here, if they indeed not allow a stopover for more than 24 hours... (even in such cases) and 500mile flexibility is no longer there?
First post in a long time.. so please be gentle

In the end, I was able to secure 4 seats in C (Qsuite) and in F travelling the day before.
The rebooking process was very painful and took an hour, agent (lovely girl) had to check every little detail - seem genuinely scared to proceed with next steps/confirmation.
- Can reward seats be rebooked
- What if the rewards class is no longer available
Fingers crossed this stays for now, as I dont think I have the energy to deal with this again..

I have not seen QR anywhere claiming that all USA routes are supposed to be q suite. Where is this published/advertised? I have seen on the booking page for specific flights being advertised as qsuite but that was not accurate even before the groundings
