Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

Thanks for your help!
A7-BBF & A7-BBH are the ones you don’t want to turn up!

We just completed DOH-SEA today and it wound up Q suite as booked. What a great product the quads are for families. My wife, me and our 2 younger boys occupied one and it was a great/fun/comfortable environment. Our teen daughter had a window suite to herself and that worked out great too ;-)

I just landed from that flight an hour or so ago.

Great flight, but the moving map was nothing but ads and no outside cameras. Service was excellent as well as the food.

ORD Global Entry is an absolute disgrace and the baggage claim area was a nightmare.

We spent 45 minutes, after waiting 35 in the GE line, waiting for a Priority bag. Had to race though re-check, the ATS, Pre-check (twice as Qatar printed TSA Pre-check on our DOH-ORD BP's, but not our ORD-ATL).

The only saving grace was a delayed flight (mechanical) ORD-ATL or we wouldn't have made it.

This is my first time with Qatar and I would like to know the following:

1) My award business ticket is R and U class ( booking with AS and AA miles), will I have access to business lounge at SFO and Doha airport.

2) If so, which business lounge I can use at SFO airport.

3) For outbound flight , I still can not get seat assigment for my flight from Doha to Male, I was told by Qatar agent over the phone, I will get seat assigment when check in at SFO airport ( for the segment DOH - MLE) , I would like to confirm with someone who fly with Qatar recently, if that is correct . If not, will I be able to do seat selection myself 24 hrs before my departure flight. I am unsure if that is 24 hrs or 48 hrs for self selection of seat assigment without paying the fee. The agent suggests that I talk to Alaska to change my ticket to a better business class. Have anyone able to request Alaska agent to do that.

4) I travel with an elderly partner and will wait for 8 hrs at DOH airport for the flight to Male, I hope to have access to the business lounge at Doha airport for my elderly to rest and take a shower . However, with my ticket as a clasic business ( I was told that by Qatar's agent), I am affraid that there will be no lounge access for us . I am thinking to book a transit hotel for 6- 8 hrs, but unable to do that. If anyone know away to book it, please share.

5) Please share your tip about in flight meal selection from SFO -DOH .

Please advise and thank you.

I'm on a BA ticketed reward flight this week that was swapped out of Q-Suites. Will I be given the same flexibility as offered by QR or am I stuck with what I have now?

Didn't realise that half of the A359's that are equipped with Q Suite are Parked - so the odds on getting lucky are significantly lower that I had hoped!

Been tracking the tail numbers for the DOH - NRT Tokyo flights and they seem to be increasing the frequency of Qsuite equiped 777-300. Fingers crossed.

Don't most 777-300's have QSuites?

Beware - one of those nasty non-QSuited 777-200LRs did the rotation the other day!

Yes - there are 2 of them which are non-QSuited. A7-BBF & BBH.
I’m hoping to dodge them on my DOH-SEZ flight next week. I see one of them ended up going to Manchester today in place of a QSuited 777-300.

If your flight is less than a week away you can easily find out by trying to change your seat.

Anyone have any tips/tricks to score Q award availability, even super far out (like 2024)? Since ExpertFlyer is dead, what other options are out there?
