Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

No matter how much you are aware and expect them to keep swapping, it's always still disappointing when a Qsuite flight becomes non-Qsuite, more so when they're swapped to the old 2-2-2 instead of any other newer seats.
Have had exactly the same for a FRA - DOH - SIN trip in Feb. Its been hard to keep up!

Good news was i used it to change my flights to a much better timing , using the one free change offer. My 22 hr layover is now 2hrs.

Why would you want to spend only 2 hours in the nice lounges in Doha?

Al sawfa is very nice , Al mourjan I don't really like. I find it has a wow as you enter, but food and drink are average. also there are very few places with any natural light.

On this particular occasion i also get an extra day in singapore now

Can't book the honeymoon seats. Anyone knows why?

Thanks
Maybe they're taken? Try calling or tweeting at them. That's how we got our seat assignments.

QR often blocks the center seats to make sure they are only booked by a party of 2+.
You must call or tweet to get them assigned.
That is assuming that the plane will not be changed again.

That makes sense. Please tell us about your lounge experience in FRA with the change to T2!

I flew two weeks ago FRA-DOH from T2. Departure was at D4.
After clearing passport control you‘re in the departure area (security is just infront of the gate).

I was invited to the „Priority Lounge“ near E9. Nothing special, but some food and drinks.
You can also use the JAL Lounge (not the First class section), but I found the food choice at the Priority Lounge a bit better.

If you‘ve a Priority Pass then you could also use the „Primeclass Lounge“ near E9 (next to the Priority Lounge). My opinion: not worth, if you can visit the Priority Lounge.

Keep in mind that between Lounge and departure you‘ve to clear security control.

Chicago now going on a week straight with 2-2-2. I know the general idea is that there is no plan, but it sure seems like there is a plan for Chicago to get those planes.

for me i will use the JAL first lounge, Which is an OK place to wait for an hour or 2. Some basic food options and drinks.
It has a bar type table facing out the window which is an ok place to work.
But for sure its not particularly exciting!

The Singapore QR lounge is really nice, and along with the LHR QR lounge is a really nice place with very good food options and table service.

Interesting.....so that makes Etihad the only 1-2-1 setup avail from ORD to Middle East(and on to India for many)?

I would think it is better for an airline (and customers) to push all their lessor planes to one destination or route.

i.e. If you know QR is 2-2-2 always ORD-DOH, we consumers can decide whether to fly that route. (Can't be upset when you get on the plane and it is 2-2-2 vs. the dreaded surprise 2-2-2.)

My aircraft has left DOH inbound to ADL, where I will board for the tag flight to AKL. So it's definitely a QSuites-equipped 77W (A7-BEP).

I'm in 10K, but 1K has opened up. It's not a flight time when I would intend to sleep, so galley/lavatory noise/light is not a big concern. Is it worth swapping to improve chances of first meal choice?

Yes, plus EY's new schedule (starting late March) means one arrives/departs Indian airports from/to ORD at reasonable evening times rather than at 3am or some such on QR. Yet EY is cheaper...in short, there is no reason to book J on QR between ORD and anywhere in India.
