Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Received the dreaded email about 48 hours in advance of tonight's flight - "a change in Business Class for your flight". For operational reasons the aircraft has changed and won't have Qsuite configuration. The swapped plane is still a 777 but has 7 rows of Business Class in a 2-2-2 configuration, all facing forward.
The email also offers to call for a complimentary change to fly in Qsuite on a different date. I'm connecting in Doha so unless they're willing to also change that flight, it doesn't really help.
I do give QR credit for notifying in advance and offering a change. BA swapped out a Club Suite plane on LHR-JFK and never notified us, when we realised and asked to change to another flight with Club Suite they said no.

Also J seats come with a big and small pillow, so there should be no problem getting a couple of pillows., as some pax do not use both. This is a last resort option, but I should not worry and the crew will find a solution.

A more specific statement by QR Twitter team, related to the procedure in case of change from Qsuite to non Qsuite
QUOTE
If the change to non-Qsuite is verified, you are entitled to 1) one-time free change (+/- 21 days of the original date; new origin or destination within the same country or 500-mile radius from the original origin or destination); and 2) refund without the cancellation fee.

"If the aircraft has been changed for your flight, you are eligible to make changes +/– 3 days of your actual flight date to the same flight having Q-Suite."
"Ticket sectors may not be changed, only the flight can be changes with the same flight having a Q-suite."

Ironically, Singapore was one of their first Q suite routes and a route they made sure to always have Q suites available on all flights pre-Covid in 2019. In fact it was the one route people who were chasing to try the Q suites were always recommended to use since it would never be swaped last minute like many others. Unfortunately due to lack of A350s, these changes are going become more and more common.
They've swapped mine with the old 787 but since my flight is still over 2 months away, who knows what I'll get eventually. Could be the new 787 business suite, could be old 787 or A350-900 without Qsuite, or even back to Qsuite at the last minute.

You cannot change the routing. They verified this a few days ago through Twitter DM.

Exactly my thoughts that SIN is likely to have Qsuite flights daily at least but turns out I'm wrong. With more A350 getting grounded, I don't understand why they haven't replaced more 777 with Qsuite or 787 with new business suite to replace the stock - perhaps they can see that sales hasn't been affected by the constant equipment swaps.
