Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

It will (eventually) be across the fleet in B777s and A350s. There will be a new seat development for the B787s as this new seat can’t fit in the 787.

there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230 (probably going 3-4-3 in Y, from 217)
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

There is, but not a major one.
I always travel in center seats with wifey. The A350 is a bit narrower at the feet making it a bit more difficult to mingle legs

Flying IAD-DOH in 5 days. Solo traveler. Hoping for a double bed. Anyone know when they release the blocked seats and how I might be able to secure one once they’re opened up?

Let me translate: good luck finding not just one, but TWO open middle seats. Those are the first ones picked by couples for obvious reasons.

Given that and current J loads... Let's just say, maybe check the weather for flying pigs and then check the seats based on that.

ok. Thanks. There are actually a bunch open/blocked according to expertflyer. Right now 19 of the 46 seats are occupied and of the 12 middle rows, 2 are occupied for four seats total (rows three and five). Rest are blocked. Hence the optimism five days out for the pigs to fly. That all being said, do you know when they do open up the blocked seats?

I'm confused. Have you paid for two seats? If not, why do you feel that you deserve two seats?

No. I have not paid for two seats nor do I plan to unless you’d like to come with then you can be my guest and it’s my treat. Assuming you can’t make it on such short notice, Im hoping to get a middle seat with no one to my left or right (I’ll let you pick the side). Is that so wrong?

PS do you happen to know when they release the blocked seats?

It appears, from reading some earlier FT threads, you cannot select a middle seat until you arrive at the airport. Not sure how true that is, but that's what I read.

ISH to Doha

Another Qseat flight that I find it very hard to complain about anything. Flight left on time, food was good, we arrived on time and I got a decent nights sleep. A cut, or two, above other airline business class.
