Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

This may be a SeatGuru problem, but...
I am flying back from JNB to ORD in May. Given my travel patterns, this would probably be my only reasonable chance to be in Qsuites, which I would love to experience. On QR, the option is the DOH - ORD leg on QR 725. Everything that I have seen says that this route is a Qsuites flight. The Expedia preview says that it is Q Suites. However, SeatGuru is consistently showing it with the old configuration (any date that I search).
While I certainly understand that equipment swaps are always possible, should I expect that this will be a Qsuites flight?

It is 100% Qsuites, as advertised on the QR website. The only chance that is not the case is due to a MX on the original plane, forcing a swap to a non Qsuite plane. Very unlikely, since they are advertising the Qsuites on the route now.
I flew back with my family from JFK to DOH on Jan 6 and they had swapped equipment where our "confirmed" Q suites were not to be on the new non Q suites equipment.
Even the check in agent at JFK was surprised.

If you have access to "expertflyer" you can check there for a specific date and you will get an "indication" (as at QR plane changes may and will happen) if Qsuite or not.
If you donŽt have access, let me know the date and flight number and IŽll check it....

What dates are you considering?
You need to be aware of QR Forum Rule No. 1: don't book to fly on QR for a specific type of aircraft as QR are a five stair airline for equipment swaps. Some routes are more "stable" than others, but I don't believe FRA is one of those.
There are raft of changes that happen in late winter and late summer when QR (and most other airlines) put the finishing touches on their summer and winter schedules. Whilst is is usually focussed upon timing changes, equipment is also thrown into the mix.
Looking at the seatmap on qrcargo.com from about a month before the flight is usually a good indicator with an increasing degree of certainity, but to a certain extent you can't be totally certain until you arrive at the gate.

This is not easy to answer, as we are talking about QR ;-)

Everyone has access to ExpertFlyer. You just have to create a free account and use the free "seat alert" facility.

Looks Like A7-BBE is on the road again after almost a month in DOH

77L Qsuite I'm assuming as I just checked expert flyer and the 1.23.19 QR815 is showing Qsuites...
LAX is showing Qsuites this weekend, I wonder if they will start flying this bird to LAX
