Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Ah got it.

The MAN route will, as you've seen, change frequently too unfortunately - but with more and more QSuite fitted aircraft coming into the QR fleet, the swaps will start to slow.

In terms of PEN, you may find this thread to be of use - The Satay Fare EDI-PEN-EDI

I booked LAX-DOH-CPT with the first leg being in QSuite. I just checked today and apparently business class is now a 2-2-2 configuration. Does anyone know if this is an error in Qatar's system given the announcement a few months ago that LAX-DOH would now feature QSuites? If not, has anyone had luck getting them to switch their flight into one that does? For some reason Gmail is also picking up the 2nd segment as the day of the return flight as well

What announcement are you referring to? As far as I am aware, LAX is not an official Qsuites route. I myself have not seen any announcement from QR about LAX, and the QR website under Qsuites does not list LAX. My understanding is that QR has configured some time periods with Qsuites for LAX, and this was noticed in this forum and by several bloggers. But as we are well aware here, QR often swap equipment, especially regarding Qsuites on unofficial routes.

Are you flying paid or award, and did you book with QR or with an agency or another airline? If you are flying on an award using AAdvantage miles, AA will probably switch you provided the new flight has award space. If you booked a revenue or award flight directly with QR, you can always ask them to switch you. In any case, the flight you are now on and the flight that you are thinking of switching to might have equipment swaps up until take-off. Just as an example, my flight DOH-ARN kept switching from non-Qsuites to Qsuites and back every few days right up until the day of departure. Even when I checked in for the flight to DOH and for DOH-ARN, both showed Qsuites, but then DOH-ARN switched back.

Would be easier if you confirm your dates. I'm booked to LAX in March returning in April and both are still showing Qsuite.

Total newbie to Qatar. Can you please point me to some forums to read on what I should know about stop overs, where is a good carry on destination I can book with near the same miles etc? I known this is broad but any help would be appreciated. I have lots of AS and MR points, some AA . Seems like AA miles are the ones to book easiest. Thx

I don't know what a "good carry on destination" is. Are you asking which airports are least likely to check your carry-on bags for size, weight, and quantity?

This particular thread is specific to QR's Qsuites. If you want general help with booking QR flights using AS or AA miles, it's best to see appropriate threads in the AS or AA forums. For booking QR flights using AA miles, see QR / Qatar Airways: Earn & Redeem AA Miles, Award (master thd) and AA oneworld & Other Airline Partner Award information, rules (master thd).

Good feedback, thanks. I am taller with wide-ish shoulders. My kids want the doors, I want a nice sleep.

If you are booking multiple seats, you can allocate seats in a quad, which opens up to each other. I travel a fair bit with my spouse in EF seats, and I think having the two together, creating a private two-bed suite, contributes to the flight enjoyment and reduces any closed-in feeling.

I see the same thing happening for DFW-DOH on OCt 28th, switches from A350-1000/QSuites to 777 with 2/2/2 J seats. Anybody know if this is true or just not updated past that date yet? Thanks.

I am coming late to this party..so forgive me....if this has been addressed. We are considering flying ORD- DOH in April (then moving onto BKK the next day). We did this route in Sept 2018 and loved the Q suites. But now, I am not sure if they are still using Q Suites out of ORD.

1. Can anyone confirm that ORD - DOH is still Q Suites? It does say 777-300ER, but seat guru has two configs.
2. Last time, we spent the night and traveled the next day to BKK. Qatar paid for our hotel, but now, I think I see something a little different on the website that they may only pay for the hotel if a connection cannot be made...but we choose to stay over in DOH (it makes the jet lag better for us.)
and lastly
3. I am trying to find seatmaps for individual flights on Qatar website, but cannot. Is there another place I can look?
Thanks...helping a newbie...

@timlarry - QSuites are still run from ORD to DOH. I called to make my reservation just to be on the safe side (though I know equipment changes can happen) for our flight in Jan. I'm not much help on the other questions, sorry.

As mentioned multiple times upthread, you can look up actual seat maps for a given flight on given date on Expertflyer. You need to log in but you do not need a paid account. Just pretend you are setting a free seat alert, and you will see a seat map for your flight.
