Judging from the wiki though it seems I will have the place to myself. Probably because I chose totally inappropriate dates from a weather perspective

Annoyingly my travel companion is on a second booking so I can see a situation where he is travelling but I am not...
I called them about this and the reservations agent said that if I show the card at check in then I don't need to complete the payment verification. She put some notes on the system but I am still worried about the 'payment verification department' cancelling it.

This whole payment verification is ridiculous!

I was told by the agent that the credit card statement you send to them has to show the payment taken by Qatar for the flight they are verifying. How can anyone reasonably be expected to show them this within 48 hours when it can take 3-4 days for the payment to show up on your credit card?

I am due to fly in 2 weeks and so need to book positioning flights but not sure how long to wait before it's safe

Since you're going in July/August, you could climb Mt. Fuji if temperatures are already high enough. I did it on my last trip and of the 14 or 15 hours, it heavily rained for 10 hours straight. I didn't get to see the sunrise nor could I see the crater (heavy winds kept us from getting to see it), but it was awesome.

Just to note I had the same experience where I submitted yesterday (though I did get a confirmation email) and then received a reminder with a 24 hours to comply message today. Have just spoken to the QR call centre in the UK and they could see all the documents from yesterday in the system and suggested they looked fine, but said they would email the payment verification team just to be sure. So hopefully fine, but maybe worth a phone call to double check...

Has anyone been charged yet? I selected my seats and the booking seems to be fine but my CC has not even been pre-authorised yet. My AMS-BKK flight was charged pretty much straight away.

All my credit card statements all show the payment with 24h, provided it's a working day. Just a question of online banking.

But if QR is so worried about, they probably should add 3-D Secure to the payment process.

My flight gets to HND a bit late in the night (22:40) and after immigration/etc/etc I am afraid I won't be able to catch the last monorail (00:06) to the last station. I'm staying at Kiyosumi Shirakawa (for now, it's a free cancellation) but was just thinking if it would be prudent to get something closer to the airport?
Any advices are welcome.

There's the First Cabin capsule hotel in the terminal itself, for an "authentic" experience. Has semi-private pods and an onsen.

I don't know what to expect of a 'rijsttafel fare' but it doesn't sound bad to me at all!!

May I ask how you booked this? I was not able to coax the Qatar website into doing indirect routings, even through the multicity tool. Or is it NGO in particular only for which this works?

Never mind I got it.

Just checked my CC statement. Nothing there yet, even in pending transactions, but I have ticket number and seat reservation.

I called my bank (Lloyds) and they can see the payment authorised from their end but are waiting for Qatar to take the funds.

I checked my statement from last year and it took 4 days from booking to show up.
