Hotels in Tokyo appear to be very expensive (maybe this is just my perception and are these just regular Tokyo rates) for my stay October 19-22, or is any specific event during this period? Anyway, any advice on hotels is welcome, would preferably not spend more than £ 100 per night for a decent hotel.

In that case, also check out the Hotel Risveglio Akasaka. Same quiet area as the one you mentioned so close to everything - and transport - very cheap and very good. Rooms can be a bit on the small side if travelling as a couple. It is a bit more modern and hip than the Monterey.
Hotels in TYO aren't cheap. Around the £200 mark you can find the usual suspects but hotels like the one above have much more charm.

By the way, as I found out by researching something for the other topic, and since I'm not sure if everyone's up to speed: in July Qatar will replace the 787-8 in the DOH-HND route with an A350!
