Darn... Too late. Will you be in the front or the back of the cabin on DOH-HND? Can I recommend row 9? Lots of room for the kids to play around the bar.

Rooms at the Park Hyatt are great. See if they'll give you one with a Mount Fuji view, it's a long way off but still cool to look out on

While on different routes, the DOH-HND is the same.

Quite steep prices @ 2.2k for 3/N in June (2,8 w/ Breaky). Worth it?

Really? For a room? It is a nice place but you might as well take the IC Tokyo Bay for €170 a night. Unless you plan on staying indoors all the time. I also like the Hilton by the way.

The Ueno area is quite nice. Great park, bit more local.

If you're a Hyatt fan check out the Andaz, it's effectively a brand new Park Hyatt that accidentally got branded wrongly!

Agreed, that's too rich for me. It might be cheaper through a consolidator type site, but I wouldn't say it was worth those quoted prices.

Ok. Edited the wiki and now the departures and returns are listed separately and some dates have already been consolidated.

Thanks Henk! Since we are both Dutch, I like to look at places which are bang-for-the-guilder.
Hotel room should be convenant and close to the action for us, nice breaky is appreciated but not mandatory.
I friend pointed me into the direction of monterey akasaka and monterey ginza, which are 2/10 of the price Park Hyat!

It is about as expensive as the Park Hyatt. Andaz is their new 'upscale' hip brand. Very nice yet equally overpriced.

No offence meant, but this are hotels for Americans who want everything to be like it is at home but then somewhere else. Find a smaller hotel in a nice area and at least get some taste of what it means to be in Japan, where nobody understands you and you understand nobody. It is marvellous!

In that case, also check out the Hotel Risveglio Akasaka. Same quiet area as the one you mentioned so close to everything - and transport - very cheap and very good. Rooms can be a bit on the small side if travelling as a couple. It is a bit more modern and hip than the Monterey.

I'd rather spend the €1000/€2000 saved on good food and sake!

PAGING lost_in_translation

And yes: it's totally fun. I've overnighted a couple years ago in small Japanese town and everyone in the hotel spoke Japanese and only Japanese. Pure comedy gold.

I have indeed done that before, but each to their own I guess. What is overpriced depends on what you're looking for, but the prices for the Andaz have indeed only gone upwards since opening.

Haha . Unfortunately I speak enough bits of Japanese that I can't get that any more
