Which Departure Lounge can I use?

1. When is Al Safwa opening, which is pointless to discuss for obvious reasons;
2. Why is the First/Business Class Lounges so bad, which seems to have died down by itself; and
3. Krug!

I am more interested to know if I would find the excellent Malbec I saw in FindAWay's trip report in the lounge (since sampling a good wine on air is not the best choice)
I don't know if they have some expert choosing the alcohol but most of the red* wine choices they have are very well thought.
ps. I find champagne overrated and hugely overpriced (not kidding).
So I sympathize with you all drooling for free Krug.
Who in their right mind would pay more than 100 euros for a fizzy piss (kidding).
*I have no opinion for their white/sparkling since I don't drink, but I would bet they are as well.

Alas, Goodbye Al Mourjan I am back to the Business class lounge for OW S and E types - the same old lounge that I visited when flying with QR when HIA first opened a loong time ago.
Still a nice and comfortable lounge. No Krug - BUT me world is still fine because they have a very nice Australian Semellion from the Hunter valley to go with my smoked beef sannys.
Shortlisted for a business class upgrade. I am on the wait list and will find out at the gate. Asleep in DXB by 1 am - insh'allah

I can see the list of upgrade requests in the US but wouldn't it be quite embarrassing to 'ask' for an upgrade

Was told to come back around 1 hour before flight and check if I've been upgraded anyway or if a paid upgrade is in order....
.. sadly by the time I went back, this lovely man was gone and replaced by a rather more surly person, who didn't seem to pay attention to any shortlisting or the possibility of being op-upped, and just went through with the miles upgrade.

I have asked several airlines BA, IB, TK, etc about upgrade possibilities (for cash). Mixed results. Only once with AC did I get an OP-UP - and I had crutches and had just come off a wheel chair. Business class was nice - in fact (Aug 2010) I asked the FA (when she was serving us red wine from a bottle - the real nice stuff) if she had ever dreamed of having a million dollars. Her reply? Yes, every day.
My response? Here is your wish. Just don't spend it all in one place. I opened my hand and gave her a $1 million dollar note - Tanzanian dollars of course On landing she gave me the sweetest smile ( a million $ smile??) and said: "Thanks for the million dollar gift."
Onward. God Bless Us - Everyone.

I'm sitting at the upstairs bar at the Al Mourjan lounge this very moment sipping a glass of Krug. It's quite clear that it is freely available by request but not on offer.
Another gentleman just walked up and asked for champagne; the bartender asked whether he'd prefer Laurent Perrier or Veuve Clicquot. He said "Krug?" and the bartender quickly produced a glass for him as well.

Currently sitting in Al Mourjan, it's just after midnight & it appears to be considerably calmer than the usual rush hour chaos. There are plenty of spare seats around & from where I'm sitting I can see spare tables upstairs in the restaurant.
It seems the removal of Y class elites has indeed created a more 'Premium' experience for those left behind...
Edit; just to add, I've just had a shower (the ones by the Quiet rooms) & they weren't busy either, many were unoccupied.
