744 / 4-class / business (1A/K ,4A/K, 5A/K, 16A/K)
I like (in order)
* 1A/K for the curved nose and can see forward, in the old F seat, and no one walking by you during flight
* 4A/K for the bassinet (meaning lots of desk space next to you) in the old F seat
* 16A/K for unlimited leg room and the storage bin next to the window
* 5B/J for the big desk and storage next to you

I'm on QF73 on August 10th and it looks like the aircraft was swapped to a 747-400. I was put into 16A in the Upper Deck. I'm curious what others think is my best option. I prefer ease of access to the aisle (don't want to have jump over anyone awkwardly) and personal space/privacy. ...
Any feedback is appreciated.

Is there a row 4 on this flight?
Looks like a refurb with skybed MK 2. 16A is not a valid seat for that configuration.
I'd go for 3F - you have storgae at your feet - big enough for rollaboard carryon.

I'm about to book QF 64 in November, and if I understand correctly this route has a high chance of getting the old, non-refurbished 744.
Haven't had any luck finding details on the Economy vs. Premium Economy seats on this aircraft, can anyone tell me more / send me in the right direction?
Thanks!

These aircraft have been refurb'd a couple of times in their service life, but have not had the latest overall refurb.
The PE seating is pretty much the same as on the current refurb level as far as I could see when I was flying on one for SCL-SYD in May. I was in J and didn't walk further back than the PE cabin, so can't comment on the Y seats.

Can someone please tell me if I need to pay for selecting seat on qantas from dfw-syd and syd-dfw? We are family of 3 travelling in economy using AA miles. I have to pay $27 per persona per lag to so it will be about $150. Any experience? Thanks,

Obviously depends on your fare bucket and status. But yes you would.

Traveling LAX-BNE on the upper deck. We've snagged seats 14AB, which appear to be fine seats with extra leg room due to the exit row? One question I haven't found an answer to is whether our TV is positioned in the armrest or is affixed to the seat in front of us? If so, is the distance an issue?
Thanks for the advice!

The TV's (as in all Skybed Mk 2 ) are stowed in a central protuberence forward of the seating area, between the seats.
You press a button and they rise; you then swing them out.
This stock image shows them stored. The tops of the screens can be seen as the two parallel dark areas.

Flying on the A332 from SYD - SIN next week (QF 5). Company will pay for advanced seat assignment but not the additional for extra legroom. Right now I can snag an aisle on an open set of 2 (e.g., 46J) for "free" or I can pay out of pocket the extra 60AUD/45USD to snag either 44B or 44J with 44A and 44K already taken. Worth it for the flight up to SIN as someone who is about 5'11 160?
EDIT: Decided to just go ahead and snag 44J. I'll be grateful to have the extra legroom since I'll be getting on a plane to NRT about 36 hours later.

Hello!
Flying economy QF10 on Friday, I had selected 69D, the seat right in front of the escape hatch (I won't recline into others). I am travelling alone so I like to have direct access to the aisle. They released some seats on the upper deck, 32 DEFG. Is it worth changing my seat? I am 1.83m and I fear the bulkead will reduce legroom...but I am tempted by the small cabin...
Thanks!

I'm 183cm and find row 32 just a tad squishy. However, row 33 is pretty good. A/K even better with side storage bins.
If a fullish flight, I'd suggest sticking to where you are.
