Is 4A the best overall strategy for a solo traveller on the A380 in F? It seems like 5A is always blocked (I thought QF blocked the first many rows of their cabins for their own FF status folks but maybe thats in J not F). At any rate, 4A would provide privacy from lavs/galleys, minimal people walking by (well 1 at the most outside of crew) and the ability to get 5A as your bed should it stay empty. I noticed too looking at some seat maps for QF 12 there was a stretch recently where 4A was taken before 2A or 3A.

1A is better, or any of the seats on the A side as the K side you are sharing the aisle with twice as many people - as the middle seats empty that way. That said I would go a window over a middle and all seats in that cabin are good.

Hi everyone. I've got an upcoming flight with my wife and two kids in QF Business on the 787 Dreamliner.
Currently have 5 E/F & 6E/F, but can see plenty of blocked out seats further forward that will likely open up at T-80 in a few days.
Is the general consensus that a group of 4 is best served across 2 rows of middle seats vs 4 across in a single row due to the offset nature of the window vs aisle seating?
Or if I could get 2 or 3 A E F K for example would that be a better outcome?
As a side note - is it possible to step across between the E/F seats? It's hard to get a feel from pictures how big the gap is and if its would be possible to squeeze in-between/ step over the divider if needed.
Thanks

We go for the 4 across - watch out for the offset (why???) numbering using the online seat map as a guide - drives me nuts. But have also done the 2-2/2-2. Just a preference that one adult can see across the row if the other is sleeping whereas with 2-2/2-2 there is no chance. It is almost like you are not flying together.
Yes you can step in front of the centre console, it is tight but doable, but plenty of secure hand holds to up and over the bed if it is reclined. More difficult if both beds are reclined and you are on the window. I tend to do the go through the galley, my wife does the parkour over the top!

A380 F: 5A "restricted"
I'm flying with someone in QF F on an A380. We're currently in 2FK. 4A and 5A show available (not occupied and not blocked) on EF. In QF's booking management, 5F shows occupied. I called QF and the agent said 5A is "restricted" but maybe I could get it 72 hours before the flight (she wasn't sure).
Would a different QF agent be able/willing to put one of us in 5A?

I'm returning from BNE to LAX in economy on an A330-200 in a few months and the seat map has the center section blocked from rows 32-37. Crew rest area? Should that impact seat choice for a couple in economy? Seems like it would be a bit odd to sit in a two-seat section across from curtained off sleeping pilots, but who knows. I'm having a hard time with seat selection on this flight since the only extra legroom seats are exit rows by where people congregate for the lav.
