Thumbs up BNE xmas sips

Please put me down for the BNE even(t)ing.

I need to spend a day up there next week and I have managed to arrange it for Thursday.

Inbound on Wed 8th on QF626, arriving at 5:10pm.

I'll have more time on this occasion.

Given the warm reception I received from the QP guard dogs, who are theoretically duty-bound to give me a warm welcome... XO has a lot of room to move.

Having said that, I am starting to think this may well be my last meal at XO, given my behaviour at the QP, and I absolutely intend to make it a good one!

They do have a special area with Neil pointed out to me (ha nice name dropping effort, eh!) for groups of 10 or so which is near the loos and away from the other well behaved guests - where I think we may be fine

Well, to all those who turned up for the SYD event, it was my pleasure to organise (it was so hard! ) and great to meet those FT'ers I hadn't met before (meloz, SFSC, serfty, Lis, Goldflyer, etc)

I'm currently at a Conference in SYD (Willyroo's here as well) where I just found a sponsored Internet Area.

Great to hear how much everybody enjoyed the evening and I hope that the BNE one will be as good (albeit less in numbers).

Not in a position to update the BNE listing now, but will on Sunday.

My attorneys, the deeply respected firm of Schwindler, Schwindler, Shyster and Shonk have asked for this to be clarified please.

The biggest FT gathering of Australians we have had in Australia surely?

ozstamps, have to clarify that point. BNE FT gathering 2003 was an entire large meeting room and roughly same numbers of Australian FT'ers...

Does my remote attendance via telephone proxy count as half an attendee?

Why not a full vote indeed.

Schwindler, Schwindler, Shyster and Shonk will be contacting Mr Speed with a summons for wilful misrepresentation shortly, and can adjudicate on phone calls and their validity.

I certainly had a few of Newark's finest (that's Newark in Delaware, not New Jersey) that evening while you were all enjoying HP's. The Iron Horse Brewery Cask conditioned Ale was certainly a good brew .

Canberra Drinkies 13 Dec

QF WP won't be able to make it down to Canberra before Christmas, so he won't be organising a CBR QP meeting. I suggest that the Canberra FTers have an after-work get together on Monday 13 Dec. Venue will be dependent on the number of WPs - if there are enough to get us plebs into the QP we can hold it there. If not, I suggest meeting at the Verve, cnr Franklin St and Flinders Way in Manuka at 1730 (5:30pm).

Let me know by PM before Friday and, if we have enough WPs, I'll let everyone know to meet at the airport rather than Manuka.

Indeed, looks like my travels for work prior to Xmas are curtailed as I have a mountain to finalise prior to Dec 31 (let alone create any more!). I am still holding BNE/SYD/CBR flights that I willl take prior to April 05 (when they run out).

A couple of unknowns:

swissmich - You've arrived in MEL (welcome!), are you going to try and attend BNE or SYD - maybe wait for MEL to be organised??

Anybody that I have missed (or not put in their status or flight details) please advise to this thread and I'll update the list.

For anybody going to drop in (if you haven't got auto entry from a flight that day or Plat), make sure you send me a PM so I can give you a Platinum "buddy" to page (so we can get you in without the problems we had with too many people paging Rod Speed in SYD).

BNE QP Meeting

Hi all,
Looks like I could be there about 4pm. (barring things running overtime at the Royal Bne).

Do I need to bring a digital camera to record this event?
Cheers

Not sure I am going to make it tomorrow
I have been suffering ever since I arrived, first a sore throat, then a cold and now a cold and chest infection, been ill since I arrived over a week ago, so in the interest of keeping OZ and Uk FT relations good I think its best if I dont come and pass on this terrible cold/flu to any one else

Sorry but I think its for the best, shame really as I went out on my first day and bought some HP and got through a lot of it and for sure it is a VERY good beer.

I will see how I feel tomorrow as I feel a lot better today, so I will leave it as if I am feeling better I will be there and if I dont show you know I am not well enough to attend, I am by Byron bay atm and have had to get mrs dino to drive me to an internet cafe to post this message as I did not want you to think I couldnt be bothered even saying I couldnt come enough rambling , thanks for the invite

Dino
