Lovely evening. Even better since Mrs og collected og from the taxi rank in her wonderful air con car (if you were in SYD you'd know why this was great).
Many thanks to all at the T3 QP, especially those who did the FT collation of names etc (read: QF WP). I thoroughly enjoyed meeting those who had, until now, remained faceless. And for the others, I hope we can all meet again in the not too distant future.

Hey Guys, I was only there for 3 HP's
and did not get to meet all of you. I look forward to catching up more in the future in a QP somewhere...
Lots of thanks to those who organised, especially QF WP.
Really I had a good time and it was hard to drag myself away, however 550 called...Gate 17 was a different direction all together, I'm just glad I was not the last to board ^ .
To make a good evening great I had the best domestic service on my BNE flight that I have had in years, JAY or WHY?. I have the FA's name and am going to send a 5 :-: feedback.
Happy days...

Well, I just wanted to add my 2 cents to the thread on what a great evening it was. Right from the 1600 call for Rod Speed which had me laughing out loud to just sneaking onto my flight to MEL (a little wobbly and hiccuping all the way home, to the great amusement of the poor lady next to me!) it was wonderful to meet everyone - the old regulars and the new faces I hadn't met before. Specially glad to have a chat to JohnSydney2000 and to to catch a delayed Lis - glad you made it! Tinkybelle is every bit the champ of champ I expected and that was also a pleasure.
I do feel sorry for the QP staff though - at last count they'd paged at least 4 different Rod Speed's....
I only wish I could cough up the doh to attend the BNE meet next week but alas not. This was worth the S fare to come up though. Bring on OzFest '05!
Oh yeah, and don't forget to fly Star Alliance folks! The Airline Network for earth who have not yet screwed us all over (yet!)

But I soldier on.....
Next time, I'll be there with bells on. Oh & just who is Rod Speed??

A great night, running into many new and old faces, and do hope it becomes an annual fixture. :-:
Many thanks to QF WP for keeping it all updated, and hope the MEL and BNE Doos go just as smoothly. ^
After more than 6 hours of HP's I am sure the QF share price took a nose dive today.
After all the throng had departed there was myself Lis and Alan "Billabong" (can't spell his FT name!) sitting there peacefully, drinking in a locked and otherwise totally empty QC.
Cleaners would occasionally stumble across us and tell us the doors were closed, and we'd thank them for their useful input of the bleeding obvious and kept chatting and drinking.
Finally 2 big security guys arrived about 10.30pm with a crowbar to ease us out the doors. Lis tried bribing them with Mims mints to keep off our case, And Alan said as a Plat he was having a meeting with 2 friends. However we were finally ushered out via the kitchens and we all jumped into a cab!
I counted 23 glasses on the tables as we left and that was after countless clean up trips of empties by Dave and staff etc, so my guess is well over 100 HP's went down the hatch, plus other goodies.

Oh .. .and thanks to Mr. Speed for signing both martynriddle and myself in. Gee Mr. Speed was a busy guy last night. ^
With the ongoing discussion about UA v/s QF, I really have to say in fairness that lounge access is the BIG bennie QF Plats have over UA ones.
In the USA a UA 1K or Gold has no Red Carpet Club lounge access whatever - much less the chance of signing in guests. (That is, apart from the same day of an It'l Star or UA flight)
And in the USA there is no free booze whatever in RCC - altho on day of flight they are supposed to give elites 2 free drink chits at gateway. It is like pulling teeth many times, but I have become rather skilled at it.

It was good to see so many people there. At one time I counted 16 but there were more as they came and went.
I second, third, fourth, the vote of thanks to QF WP for being the social co-ordinator and everything else.
I think Rod Speed as a name will be banned from the SYD QP as I would imagine the door attendants will make note of it for future. Dave Noble had a better suggestion of using real people (WP's) and we should be certain not to run into trouble. Afterall there were more WP's there than on a SYD CBR flight.

Thanks QFWP for organizing another great FT get together
Thanks everyone for a great night. As mentioned by others above, it is great to put a face to fellow posters, and learn a little more about everyone's travel stories.
Thanks kindly QFWP for your organizing the night.
I counted 17 in attendance plus a timely call from NM from the Land of "The Patriot Act" during the evening.
I would especially like to thank all those who made special travel efforts to get there, so that we could get a chance to meet each other. Regards. John.

Yes, I can now claim to have seen the QP Kitchen. And own up to haphazardly distributing MIMS mints!
Snaps to tinkybelle for the elephant shoes. And thanks to everyone who ensured I was never without an alcoholic beverage!
For anyone who was after the minutes:
One of the resolutions agreed to was that there will be a visit to XO in January. I shall get cracking and start my organisational duties this weekend.

Sounds like it was a great night out, I wish I could have been there! Regarding the XO visit, if it's late in January (Jan 24 or later) there's a chance I can make it. This trip to SYD has been delayed two or three times already, so perhaps this time it will actually happen.
