JQ Jetstar Australia 100% owned by Qantas. JQ does have QF & AA codeshares on its aircraft. The other Jetstar's in Asia have different ownership.

QF owns between 30 and 49% of each of the Asian Jetstar brands (BL, 3K/VF, GK) with 1 or 2 local companies holding the balance.

The main issue with the QF codeshares on JQ is that QF does not sell J seats on it's codeshares, even on JQ aircraft with a J cabin.
eg, JQ3 (SYD-HNL) has a QF codeshare as QF283. It is a 787 and has a 21 seat Business Class cabin. You can not get those seats on the QF code and for a oneworld fare, you'll be booked in L.

Hi all, I just booked a DONEx out of South Africa, and used BA's South African office to do the booking since that was what the online tool told me to do. However, I want to accrue the mileage from my trip through AAdvantage, which is my home program. I called AA just now to verify that I would get the mileage for the flights in the same way I would if they were booked through AA, but I don't really trust the information I get through them over the phone. Has anyone else used the method I'm describing to book and credited the miles to AA? Or do I need to cancel the booking and find a way to get AA to book it for me?

Edit: reading the AAdvantage rules online it looks like it shouldn't be an issue; with BA, for instance, it says "Earn AAdvantage miles when you fly on British Airways marketed and operated flights as well as British Airways codeshare flights operated by oneworld carriers and affiliates." It sounds like the issuing carrier shouldn't matter in that case. But I want to make sure I'm not missing something here!

Absolutely no need to cancel.

The airline you book with (or the platng carrier) has no bearing whatsoever on mileage accrual. You simply need to put your AA FF number in the reservation. You can do this at the airport when you depart or earlier (probably by phoning AA with your ticket number). As BA ticketed it you may also be able to phone your local BA officr and ask them to do it.

If you are accruing to AA make sure you're maximising AA codeshares where possible.

I've gone to the BA website just now and popped in my AAdvantage number. Quick and easy.

I tried booking online over the weekend and got the mysterious error 4606 - 68202

Had to call AA RTW desk this morning to do the reservation over the phone and therefore paid an extra $50 fee.

Hey all
I booked a AONE4 ex-NRT and had a question regarding the final leg and a potential fear of "hidden city" penalty.

We are starting our trip in Japan, and would like to end our trip in HKG. I can route our final flight from JFK-NRT via HKG on CX. Is there any penalty for not taking the final leg (HKG-NRT) and "finishing" the journey? Will we receive the mileage for JFK-HKG if we dont finish the entire trip?

I know with normal flights, there is a fear of Hidden city pricing/no showing, but does this apply with xONEx tickets?

Even if they wanted to reprice your itinerary to the "correct fare", I doubt there is any other fare or combination of fares that could be used to price your real itinerary.

I think the ticketing carrier (presumably JL) will get over it (they'll probably never learn that it was unflown anyway, CX & JL are hardly best buddies).

However you may wish to arrange to have a stop in HKG instead of just a transit.

My problem is that I can't arrange a stop in HKG at the end of the trip as I am starting the trip in Japan, and cant go back to Asia on this ticket.

My biggest concern is not getting credit for JFK-HKG as this is the leg that will get me ExPlat.

Of course you can go back to Asia on an AONE4. In fact you must go back - to Japan at least:)

You are allowed four flights in Asia and two stopovers. So if you haven't had two stopovers at the beginning of the itinerary, then you can have a stopover in HKG at the end.

With regards to the final HKG-NRT flight - simply change its date to be about one year after the first flight. You never know, you might end up having a use for it. if not, then simply 'forget' about it:D

Crash LANding in PUQ
 
Greetings all from Punta Arenas.

We (2 pax) are LAN flying MPN PUQ on 20 Feb and are seeking to get onwards to SCL as soon as possible on our BA issued LONE4 tickets. We have a reservation for PUQ SCL on March 3 and want a simple date change.

We called at the LAN office in town today. Unhelpful clerk says "Impossible to change. You call BA" After a little gentle persuasion, she accepts change is indeed possible on these tkts but says nothing in L class till March 2. (LAN flies 4 air buses a day on this route). There are lots of seats in Y of course - have checked Expedia.

Any advice? Is it worth hanging around on a standby basis at the airport? Logic dictates that better to bump us forward into empty seats if they have no last minute takers and have our seats to sell later. But then again....

There are only seats in Y, B, H and sometimes K.

Most flights are Y7 B7 H7 K0 M0 L0 V0 X0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 A0.

Is waitlisting actually permitted on this fare? I have a feeling it isn't, but there's no reference in the rules.

I don't see anything about it in the rules either. Open segments are permitted, so it's not that each segment has to be confirmed, but, for example, BA doesn't accept waitlists for L class whereas they do for A class and only sometimes for D class.

Just tried waitlisting L class on LA and got this in Amadeus:
LA 090 L 21FEB 7 PUQSCL NOT AVAILABLE AND WAITLIST CLOSED
and this in Sabre:
1 LA 292L 21FEB S PUQSCL UC1 235P 555P /DCLA
So LA won't accept a waitlist for L, and probably wouldn't accept airport go-shows/standbys either

I did try to get a waitlisted segment in D class on LA once and the answer was no. My BA friend who was trying to ticket it for me told me that "RESERVATIONS REQUIRED FOR ALL SECTORS" probably implied "CONFIRMED RESERVATIONS" (this wasn't a RTW fare), but he didn't say that maybe LA just don't allow it on some fare classes.

Why, TY! Yup, UC is unconfirmed, it was Sabre's immediate response, didn't have to end and retrieve or anything. LA uses Sabre instead of Amadeus but I wanted to check the responses of both just to see if one allowed it or not.
